Los residentes del Condado Harris deben prepararse para los impactos del huracán Laura antes de las 8:00 p.m. (miércoles, 7:30 p.m.)
La Oficina de Seguridad Nacional y Manejo de Emergencias del Condado Harris (HCOHSEM, por sus siglas en inglés) y sus socios están activados bajo el Nivel 1: preparación máxima para responder al huracán Laura, fenómeno tropical que tocará tierra durante la noche e impactará áreas del Condado Harris con fuertes vientos y lluvia.
Debe ultimar cualquier preparación de refugio o evacuar antes de las 8:00 p.m. esta noche. Ya sea que se refugie en casa o se vaya, debe estar preparado para permanecer en un lugar seguro durante los próximos días.
El día de ayer, se emitieron evacuaciones voluntarias de las comunidades costeras del Condado Harris, por lo que se les pide a los residentes no regresar a sus hogares, hasta que los funcionarios locales hayan anunciado que es seguro hacerlo.
MANTÉNGASE SEGURO DURANTE DE LA TORMENTA
- No llame al 9-1-1 a menos que esté experimentando una verdadera emergencia.
- Si es necesario, refúgiese en un pasillo interior o en una habitación más pequeña sin ventanas, como un armario o closet.

Harris County Residents Should Prepare for Hurricane Laura Impacts by 8:00 p.m. (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.)
The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) and partners remain activated at Level 1-Maximum Readiness to respond to Hurricane Laura. The storm will make landfall overnight and will impact areas of Harris County with strong winds and rain.
You should complete any shelter-in-place or evacuation preparation by 8:00 p.m. this evening. Whether you shelter in your home or leave, you should be prepared to remain in a safe location for the next few days.
Avoid coastal areas for the remainder of Hurricane Laura. DO NOT go outdoors or be on roadways as the storm moves through the area. Strong winds could turn loose items into projectiles.
Voluntary evacuations of coastal Harris County communities were issued yesterday. Residents should not return to their homes until local officials have announced that it is safe to do so.
STAY SAFE THROUGH THE STORM
- Do not call 9-1-1 unless you are experiencing a true emergency.
- If necessary, take refuge in an interior hallway or smaller room with no windows, such as a closet near load-bearing walls.
- Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and only use hand-cranked, solar-powered, or battery-operated lamps or flashlights.
- Be sure to leave a clear path to exit in case of a fire.
IF YOU LOSE POWER
- Always assume fallen power lines are energized. Stay away from the area and report any downed lines to authorities immediately.
- During power outages try to avoid using candles. Use flashlights instead.
- Turn off lights and electrical appliances except for the refrigerator and freezer. Leave one lamp on so you will know when power is restored. Wait at least 15 minutes after power is restored before turning on other appliances.
- Unplug computers and other sensitive equipment to protect them from possible surges when the power is restored.
- Use and store food carefully to prevent food-borne illness.
- Keep doors to refrigerator and freezers closed.
- If using a generator, ensure it is in a well-ventilated area and never inside the home or garage.

- Listen to and follow instructions from local officials.

HOUSTON – Debido al clima inclemente, las Cortes Municipales de la Ciudad de Houston cerrarán a las 2:00pm el Miércoles 26 de Agosto, 2020 y reanudarán sus funciones el Jueves 27 de Agosto, 2020. Los restablecimientos de casos se darán en persona en todas las ubicaciones de las Cortes de la Ciudad de Houston desde el Lunes 31 de Agosto de 2020 hasta el Viernes, 4 de Septiembre de 2020, hasta las 5 p.m. Visite el sitio web de las Cortes Municipales al www.houstontx.gov/courts para obtener información sobre todas las ubicaciones de la Corte y las horas de operación. DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
HOUSTON – Due to inclement weather, the City of Houston Municipal Courts will be closing Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. and resume normal operations on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Resets will be given in person at all City of Houston court locations Monday, August 31, 2020 through Friday, September 4, 2020, until 5 p.m. Please visit the Municipal Courts’ website at www.houstontx.gov/courts for information on all court locations and hours of operation. It is important to note that if an individual fails to reset their case(s) during the reset period (8/31/20 through 9/4/20), an arrest warrant may be issued.
On Wednesday, August 26, 2020 beginning at 2:00 p.m., there will be:
- No Trials by Judge. Resets will be given in person at all City of Houston court locations Monday, August 31, 2020 through Friday, September 4, 2020, until 5 p.m. Scheduled court settings will resume Thursday, August 27, 2020.
- No Arraignments. Anyone scheduled for arraignments during this time must come in person Monday, August 31, 2020 through Friday, September 4, 2020 to receive a new arraignment date. Scheduled court settings will resume Thursday, August 27, 2020.
- No Parking Adjudication Hearings. Hearings will resume Thursday, August 27, 2020.
As a reminder, Jury Duty and Jury Trials are suspended due to COVID-19 until October 1, 2020.
Following Mayor Sylvester Turner’s and CDC guidelines to protect the public and MCD staff from the spread of COVID-19, members of the public will be required to wear face masks/facial coverings and have their temperature taken prior to entering the courthouse.

Dynamo travel to Kansas for first road trip since March
The Houston Dynamo face a quick turnaround as they hit the road for their first road trip since March. Houston return to Children’s Mercy Park and look to build on their 0-0 draw with FC Dallas on Friday. This was the first clean sheet for Tab Ramos’ squad and Houston’s first match in the Phase 1 return to play.
Houston held FC Dallas scoreless for the third consecutive game and will look to add the finishing touch in the final third after forcing six saves, the most this season. Dynamo midfielder Memo Rodriguez forced two saves and led the team with seven shots. The Dynamo Academy product will look to spark the offense much like he did at the MLS is Back Tournament, where he scored two goals in three games.
Dynamo forward Mauro Manotas missed Friday’s game with a thigh injury, so Houston will likely look to Christian Ramirez to snap a 163-minute scoring drought for the club. Ramirez earned his first start since last October on Friday and forced one save.
This is the second meeting between both clubs and the first since March 7, the last game for both teams prior to MLS suspending league play due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sporting Kansas City defeated Houston 4-0 in their home opener and now sit at the top of the Western Conference. Tuesday’s match will be the first of two meetings during Phase 1. Kansas City will visit BBVA Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5., the final Phase 1 match in Houston.
Kansas City return to Children’s Mercy Park after defeating Minnesota United FC 2-1 on Friday at Allianz Field. Gadi Kinda gave Sporting an early lead in the 12th minute and his effort in the 55th minute to intercept the ball at midfield forced an own goal to secure Kansas City’s fifth victory of the season.
Houston return to BBVA Stadium on Sept. 2 to host Minnesota United at 7 p.m. The match will air live on QuestTexas ch. 55 and fans can listen to the Spanish radio broadcast on TUDN Radio Houston 1010 AM.

Here are three key points ahead of Tuesday’s game:
- BACKLINE REACH NEW BAR: The Dynamo backline earned their first clean sheet of the season on Friday and finished with a combined 18 interceptions and 13 tackles, the second highest mark for the defense this season. Goalkeeper Marko Maric finished with one save on Friday, a season-low, and now sits at 19 for the year. Zarek Valentin and Kiki Struna combined for six clearances and Adam Lundkvist led the team in tackles with five. Honduran international Maynor Figueroa finished with three interceptions and two blocked shots against his former team. The backline will need a similar effort to contain Kansas City who have scored 15 goals this season, tied for the most in league play. Depth will be tested as well due to the quick turnaround and the Dynamo can look to defenders Jose Bizama, Alejandro Fuenmayor and Sam Junqua, who dressed on Friday, for reinforcement.
- QUINTERO KEY IN FINAL THIRD: Darwin Quintero has played a role in three of Houston’s last five goals this season and leads the team with 10 chances created. The Colombian international will play a key role as he returns to Children’s Mercy Park on Tuesday and look to snap a scoreless streak that reached 163 minutes on Friday. Quintero only played 33 minutes during the first meeting between both teams in March. Since then, he has sparked an offense that went toe-to-toe with LAFC and challenged for a point against the Portland Timbers at the MLS is Back Tournament this summer. Quintero’s contributions will be key as the Dynamo look for their first victory of the season.
- KANSAS CITY BUILD BUFFER: Sporting Kansas City enter Tuesday’s game unbeaten in the regular season and they secured the top spot in the Western Conference with their 2-1 victory on Friday against Minnesota United. Kansas City now hold a four-point buffer between them and Minnesota who sits in second place and trail the Columbus Crew by one point in the Supporter’s Shield race. Their unbeaten start to the regular season has been sparked by an offense that has scored 15 goals, tied for the most in league play this year. Sporting’s backline has also limited opposing teams by only conceding six goals and their goal difference of nine is the second-best mark in MLS. Houston face a challenging task on Tuesday, but both teams face lineup questions after playing their first Phase 1 game on Friday.
