The latest weekend box office results gave Street Fighter a clear victory in North American theaters. The video game adaptation opened with an estimated $31 million from Oct. 16–18, while an Elizabeth Holmes documentary delivered the weekend’s biggest surprise.
Overall domestic ticket sales reached about $101.6 million. That marked a 45% increase from the same weekend in 2025, according to reports.
Street Fighter Wins the Weekend Box Office Results
Paramount and Legendary’s Street Fighter debuted in first place across 3,575 theaters. Its $31 million domestic opening gave the film an average of about $8,671 per location.
The adaptation also collected approximately $20.1 million from international markets. Its estimated global opening reached $51.1 million.
Kitao Sakurai directed the PG-13 film, which stars Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Callina Liang. Jason Momoa, David Dastmalchian and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson appear in supporting roles.
The film reportedly cost about $82 million before marketing. Its audience was 69% male, while 41% of ticket buyers were 35 or older. Those numbers suggest that longtime fans of the game series helped drive the opening.
You Can See Everything Becomes a Documentary Hit
A24’s You Can See Everything earned second place with an estimated $15 million. Final figures later placed its opening at approximately $15.6 million.
The nearly three-hour documentary examines Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim directed the film.
Its performance was notable because it played in only 855 theaters. The documentary averaged more than $18,000 per location, the best average among the weekend’s Top 10 films.
A24 also reported more than 2,000 sold-out screenings. The film achieved the biggest opening for a movie playing in fewer than 1,000 theaters since Borat in 2006. It also delivered the strongest nonmusic documentary debut since Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004.
Positive audience response could help the film as it expands. According to The Numbers, 90% of surveyed moviegoers said they would recommend it.
New Releases Fill the Top Five
Last weekend’s champion, Other Mommy, dropped to third place with $8.35 million. The Jessica Chastain horror film fell 70% during its second weekend. Its domestic total reached approximately $44.9 million.
The survival thriller Whalefall opened in fourth place with $8 million from 3,065 theaters. Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin lead the film, which reportedly carried a $60 million production budget. It added $9.5 million internationally for a $17.5 million global opening.
A new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility completed the Top Five. The Focus Features release earned an estimated $7.25 million from 2,545 locations.
