The Pokémon 30th Celebration set is shaping up to be one of the biggest Trading Card Game releases of 2026. The anniversary expansion will launch worldwide on Sept. 16, bringing new foil cards, classic reprints and a large lineup of collector products.
Pokémon 30th Celebration Honors Three Decades of the TCG
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is celebrating 30 years with a special set built around nostalgia and new artwork. The release marks a major moment for longtime fans who grew up opening early Pokémon packs, as well as younger collectors discovering the game today.
Unlike standard expansions, Pokémon 30th Celebration booster packs will not be sold individually. Instead, packs will be available through special products such as Elite Trainer Boxes, poster collections, tins, figure boxes and premium collections.
Each booster pack will include five foil cards. In addition, every pack will include one foil Basic Energy and a code card for Pokémon TCG Live.
Pikachu Takes Center Stage
Pikachu will play a major role in the anniversary set. Each booster pack will include one of 30 unique foil Pikachu cards.
The cards feature different illustrations, giving collectors a major chase element across the product line. As a result, Pikachu fans may have plenty to hunt for once the set reaches stores.
The focus on Pikachu fits the anniversary theme. For many fans, the character remains the face of Pokémon across games, television, merchandise and the card game.
Classic Cards Return for Collectors
The set will also include a Classic Collection, which brings back memorable cards from Pokémon TCG history. These reprints are expected to be a major draw for collectors who missed earlier eras of the game.
In addition, Ultra-Premium Collections will include a special Classic Collection booster pack. That pack contains three cards from the Classic Collection.
Because classic reprints often attract strong demand, these products may become some of the most watched items in the lineup. However, collectors should wait for official retailer listings before making purchase plans.
New Futuristic Rare Cards Debut
The anniversary set will also introduce a new rarity called Futuristic Rare. This gives the release a modern identity instead of relying only on nostalgia.
Early attention has centered on new Mew and Mewtwo cards tied to the rarity. These cards bring a more forward-looking style to the celebration.
Therefore, the set appears designed to balance two audiences. It honors longtime collectors while also giving newer fans something fresh to chase.
Product Lineup Rolls Out in Waves
The first wave begins Sept. 16 with several products. These include the Elite Trainer Box, Poster Collection, Tech Sticker Collection, Pokémon ex Boxes, Knock Out Collection and 2-Pack Blister.
More products will follow in October. That wave includes Mini Tins, a Binder Collection and a Booster Bundle.
Later releases include Espeon ex and Umbreon ex Battle Decks, Ultra-Premium Collections, a Ditto Premium Collection and Mew and Mewtwo Figure Collections. Because the lineup is broad, fans may want to decide early which products fit their budget.
What Local Fans Should Know
Houston-area collectors should expect strong interest at major retailers, local card shops and online stores. Anniversary Pokémon products often move quickly, especially when they include exclusive promos or popular characters.
However, shoppers should be careful with resale prices before launch. Waiting for confirmed retail listings can help families and collectors avoid paying inflated prices.
The Pokémon 30th Celebration set arrives as both a tribute and a new chapter for the card game. For fans across generations, the release offers a chance to revisit Pokémon history while chasing new cards built for the anniversary year.
