HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It’s a warm and humid start to your Sunday. The high levels of moisture has allowed for pockets of dense fog to develop across the region, and a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued through 9AM. This as a weak cold front dips into the region, but staying mainly west of I-45 and Houston. So high temperatures Sunday will be split… areas south of I-10 and east of I-45, including Houston, will rise into the upper 70s or low 80s, then areas west of I-45 will only hang around in the low 70s during the day. There’s also the chance for a couple of light showers in the morning before lunchtime. After that we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day Sunday.
Is it still looking warm for Christmas week?
Yep. December’s version of a heat ridge will park it over Texas for the week of Christmas. This will push highs toward record levels in the low 80s just about every day of the week. Bah humbug!
Are there any more freezes in the forecast?
Not for awhile! We are looking at above average low temperatures all the way through Christmas Day…and beyond. It’s hard to get a freeze when lows only drop into the 60s. We do have a cold front penciled in for the closing days of 2025, but we likely have to wait until January for our next chance at a freeze.
What about some measurable rain or any storms?
While there’s the chance for a few passing showers Sunday and Monday coming up, beyond that we don’t have much rain on the horizon. That said, some of the recent relief from drought conditions we saw this past fall wont last long, so drought conditions could creep back into the region heading into the New Year with this warmer and, though humid, relatively dry humid.
