Shell to acquire renewable natural gas producer Nature Energy

0

Based in Denmark, Nature Energy is a producer of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) from agricultural, industrial, and household wastes.

By purchasing the shares in Nature Energy, Shell will acquire the largest RNG producer in Europe, its portfolio of cash-generative operating plants, associated feedstock supply and infrastructure, its pipeline of growth projects, and its in-house expertise in the design, construction, and operation of innovative and differentiated RNG plant technology.

This acquisition will further increase Shell’s ability to work with its established customer base across multiple sectors to accelerate its transition to net-zero emissions. It will also support Shell’s ambition to profitably grow its low-carbon fuel production and customer offering in our world-leading customer-facing Marketing business.

“Shell’s competitiveness in low carbon fuels derives from capabilities across the value chain, combining a world-class Trading and Supply organization with access to differentiated technology and production assets,” said Huibert Vigevano, Shell’s Downstream Director. “Acquiring Nature Energy will add a European production platform and growth pipeline to Shell’s existing RNG projects in the United States. We will use this acquisition to build an integrated RNG value chain at a global scale, at a time when energy transition policies and customer preferences are signaling strong growth in demand in the years ahead.”

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in Q1 2023. Nature Energy is cash generative, and the acquisition is expected to be both accretive to Shell’s earnings from completion and deliver double-digit returns.

Mundial de Qatar 2022: Arabia Saudí – México

0

Harris County Spared as 2022 Hurricane Season Ends

0

Image did not load.

Harris County officials are marking the end of the 2022 Hurricane Season on November 30. There were no tropical weather impacts on the county or the Texas Gulf Coast.

“While we are grateful to have been spared tropical weather this year, Harris County residents should remember that being prepared is a year-round responsibility,” said Mark Sloan, Harris County’s Coordinator for Homeland Security & Emergency Management. “We are moving into colder weather, and there are always events we cannot predict. Do not let your guard down now.”

For the season, which began June 1, there were fourteen named storms with only Tropical Storms Alex and Colin and Hurricanes Ian and Nicole making landfall in the United States. Hurricanes Fiona and Ian were the only major hurricanes, with winds in excess of 111 mph. Ian, a Category 4 hurricane, devastated southwest Florida after making landfall near Ft Myers in late September. Ian moved across the state and back into the Atlantic Ocean, where it made a second landfall in South Carolina. Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico as a Category 1 hurricane, eventually moving up the Atlantic into Canada.

According to the National Hurricane Center, this year’s activity was in line with seasonal guidance issued by the agency.

Disaster preparedness tools, including preparedness checklists, hurricane brochures, and resources for kids, are available at www.readyharris.org.

Governor Abbott Readies State Resources Ahead Of Winter Weather Threats

0
Governor Greg Abbott today directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to ready state emergency response resources in anticipation of potential winter weather threats, severe storms, and flash flooding expected across Texas tomorrow through late Friday night.

The National Weather Service has indicated winter storm watches are in effect along the Interstate 27 corridor with potential for four to six inches of snow and isolated higher amounts possible in the Panhandle and West Texas. Weather models show a marginal risk of excessive rainfall and severe storms for much of East and Southeast Texas, bringing threats of flash flooding, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes.

“The State of Texas is proactively preparing for winter weather and severe storms expected to impact Texas this week,” said Governor Abbott. “As we continue monitoring weather conditions, Texans are urged to remain weather-aware and follow the guidance of state and local officials to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. We also thank all of the brave emergency response personnel who are spending time away from their families to protect our communities and their fellow Texans this Thanksgiving season.”

At the direction of the Governor, TDEM has requested the following state agencies identify available resources to support winter weather and severe weather response operations across the state:

  • Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service
  • Texas A&M Forest Service
  • Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service
  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
  • Texas National Guard
  • Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Texas Department of Transportation
  • Public Utility Commission of Texas
  • Railroad Commission of Texas
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

Additionally, the Texas Department of Transportation has begun treating roadways across West and Northwest Texas ahead of winter weather.

Texans can access winter weather safety tips by visiting ready.gov/winter and locate severe weather safety information at ready.gov/severe-weather.
