The Harris County Clerk’s Office has launched the free Harris Votes app, giving voters mobile access to essential election information. The app arrives before early voting begins Oct. 19 for the Nov. 3 general election.
Voters can use the app to check their registration, locate vote centers, review sample ballots and receive election reminders.
Harris Votes App Combines Election Resources
The Harris Votes app brings several election tools together in one location. Users can access information directly from their smartphones instead of searching through multiple webpages.
Available features include:
- Voter registration status
- Vote center locations
- Personalized sample ballots
- Election dates and reminders
- Important announcements and updates
The app is available for free through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Users can find it by searching for “Harris Votes.”
Push notifications are optional. Voters who enable them can receive reminders and updated election information from the Harris County Clerk’s Office.
“We know voters want election information that is easy to access,” Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said. “The Harris Votes app brings several of those resources together in one place, giving voters another convenient way to prepare for Election Day.”
Four Languages Available
The Harris Votes app is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese. The multilingual format is designed to serve Harris County’s diverse voting population.
Providing election information in several languages can help more residents understand deadlines, ballot choices and voting procedures. It also gives families another resource for preparing before visiting a vote center.
The Spanish-language option is especially important for Harris County’s large Latino population. Voters can review information in their preferred language without relying entirely on translated instructions at a polling location.
The app does not replace existing election resources. Instead, it provides another way for residents to receive the same information through a mobile device.
Launch Comes Before Early Voting
The final day to register for the Nov. 3 election is Monday, Oct. 5. Eligible residents should confirm their registration before that deadline.
Early voting will run from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The app allows voters to prepare throughout the election period. A voter can confirm registration, review a sample ballot and identify a convenient vote center before leaving home.
Reviewing a sample ballot in advance can also reduce confusion at the polls. It gives voters time to research candidates and other decisions that may appear on their ballot.
Vote center information can help residents compare locations and plan around work, school or family responsibilities.
How to Prepare for the Election
After downloading the app, voters should begin by checking their registration information. They can then review their sample ballot and identify possible voting locations.
Residents should also confirm accepted identification requirements and voting hours before heading to a vote center. Election details may change, making official updates especially important.
Additional information is available at HarrisVotes.com. Residents can also follow @HarrisVotes on social media for announcements and reminders.
The Harris Votes app gives Harris County residents another practical tool for participating in local democracy. Voters should review their information early and make a plan before the voting period begins.
