How you can make holiday returns during the pandemic

Many shoppers are braving the crowds barely a day after Christmas to exchange or return their gifts or even treat themselves to something new post-Christmas.

But with thousands of purchases made in-store and online, it’s important to know each retailer’s return policies. Retailers will commonly give you 30 days to make a return.

Certain stores give you 60 to 90 days to make returns, but there is usually a cutoff time for getting cashback and you may have to settle for a gift card. However, because of the pandemic, some retailers are more generous.

Amazon

Amazon is extending their return giving people until the end of January to return any items bought between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31.

Best Buy

Purchases made at Best Buy between Oct. 13 and Jan. 2 have an extended return period through Jan. 16. However, there are some exclusions with third-party contracts, holiday products, and major appliances.

Kohl’s

Stores like Kohl’s allow for purchased items to be returned within 180 days. Premium electronics purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25 may be returned through Jan. 31, as long as the product is in original packaging with a valid receipt or account lookup.

Target

Target has also extended its return policy. For electronics and entertainment items purchased Oct. 1 through Dec. 25, the refund period will begin on Dec. 26, though there are exclusions.

Walmart

Since many items purchased from Walmart between Oct. 16 and Dec. 25 are gifts, all items with shorter return windows have an extended return timeframe, which allows more time to return items.

Store policies are usually posted at the check-out counter or printed on the back of receipts.

The year 2020 has been the most turbulent, chaotic, transformative, and tragic year in recent history. We witnessed the catastrophic surge of the COVID-19 pandemic, the resurgence of racial and civil unrest. Not to mention a political sideshow.  

While sports were supposed to be a distraction from the calamity of this year, they also served as an extremely visible platform to keep uncomfortable conversations going. In the midst of calamity, the athletes were out here, about the action and using their influence to spark change.

Milwaukee Bucks Players

The Milwaukee Bucks’ aspirations for a championship were thwarted by the Miami Heat in the 2020 NBA Bubble playoffs. However, the team’s impact in and out of the bubble during the NBA restart this summer can’t be denied. They were, in large part, catalysts for a social justice movement, that collectively shut down sports to demand that Black Lives be heard.

On August 23, 2020, 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot and seriously injured by Rusten Sheskey, a Kenosha, WI police officer. Sheskey shot seven times at Blake’s back when Blake opened the driver’s door to his SUV and leaned in. In the days following the shooting, unrest during rallies and marches ensued.

Three days after the incident, the Bucks boycotted their first-round game against the Orlando Magic. The team decided not to come out of their locker room minutes before tip-off. Later that day, the NBA  and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) postponed all of the games scheduled.

After the NBA postponed play, MLB followed suit postponing three games. The first MLB team that boycotted was fittingly the Milwaukee Brewers. In addition to MLB, the NHL followed suit as well.

After a tense meeting with the NBPA and other teams in the bubble, play resumed after a day. Some believed that the gesture was pointless since the boycott only lasted a day. On the other hand, that gesture did enough to flex their leveraged influence.

It did enough to keep the conversation about injustice and systemic racism going. It did enough to remind fans and team owners/governors alike of their power.

On the surface, the boycott was about the Blake incident. However, it could also have been a result of an accumulation of the injustices that were witnessed before the incident or even experienced by players themselves.

In June, George Hill, who now plays for Oklahoma City, was joined by Myles Turner, Tamika Catchings, and Indianapolis Colts linebacker Anthony Walker, Jr in a video conference panel where he opened up about his thoughts on racism and racial injustice.

 

“If I didn’t have that talked, I possibly would’ve been that George Floyd,” Hill said. “I possibly would’ve been all my family members that got gunned down in the streets in Indianapolis.“ So yes, this for me, it impacts me even more because I’ve seen the killing going on, and I’ve seen the police brutality. I’ve seen that my cousin is laying in the street for an hour and a half before another police officer gets there. I’ve seen that. So I got emotional because it really hurts. I’ve got interracial kids, and I’m scared just for my whole life”

In the midst of the protests, the Bucks also presented Wisconsin lawmakers with a list of demands, citing disappointment in the state’s legislature inaction on policing reform bills.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ player leadership stepped up at a crucial moment and it wasn’t the first time these players used their platforms to make pleas for changes in the city’s race relations and the PD’s treatment of Black people.

Joining a slew of pro athletes to join protests after George Floyd’s death, six Milwaukee Bucks players participated in a Milwaukee social-justice march in June.

Among those in attendance was two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and players wore shirts that said: “I can’t breathe.”

“This is our city, man,” Antetokounmpo told the marchers, adding, “We won’t change. We want justice.”

As early as 2017, former Bucks player Jabari Parker spoke at an anti-racism rally in Salt Lake City. The rally was held in opposition to the white supremacy rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Parker regularly spoke up on issues of race, joining a growing group of young NBA and WNBA players who began dedicating their platform to social issues.

In 2018, the Sterling Brown tasing brought police brutality to the NBA’s front steps.

The players of the Bucks have consistently displayed bravery and dedication to eliminating systemic racism and contributing to an improved America and they took no breaks in 2020.

December is the deadliest month in the US since the coronavirus pandemic began

December has been the nation’s deadliest month since the Covid-19 pandemic’s start — with more than 63,000 Americans lost to the virus in the past 26 days.

In comparison, the entire month of November saw about 36,964 deaths.

The death toll comes on the heels of several brutal months, with Covid-19 ravaging communities from coast to coast, crippling hospital systems, and prompting new widespread restrictions.
The authorization of two Covid-19 vaccines earlier in December offered some hope of a light at the end of the tunnel. But experts continue to warn that while the end is in sight, the pandemic is not over and another surge stemming from the Christmas holiday could be on its way.
“We very well might see a post-seasonal — in the sense of Christmas, New Years — surge,” Dr. Anthony Fauci said “State of the Union” Sunday morning, pointing to holiday travel and private gatherings taking place despite the advice of health experts.
The nation’s top infectious disease expert described the potential rise in cases as a “surge upon a surge,” telling, “If you look at the slope, the incline of cases that we’ve experienced as we’ve gone into the late fall and soon to be early winter, it is really quite troubling.”
More than 1.1 million people were screened at airports on Saturday, according to the TSA, marking the third busiest day for US air travel since March. More than 616,000 were screened on Christmas Day alone, and hundreds of thousands more traveled in the days leading up to the holiday.
Covid-19 hospitalization numbers across the US are already at record levels. On Sunday, the country recorded its fourth-highest number of hospitalizations with more than 118,720 Covid-19 patients nationwide, according to the Covid Tracking Project.
This is the 26th consecutive day that the US has remained above 100,000 current hospitalizations.
All of the five highest days for hospitalizations have been in the last week.
Another surge of cases and hospitalizations will, inevitably, mean more deaths — on top of an already devastating death toll.
“When you’re dealing with a baseline of 200,000 new cases a day and about 2,000 deaths per day, with the hospitalizations over 120,000, we are really at a very critical point,” Fauci said.
“As we get into the next few weeks,” he added, “it might actually get worse.”
Fauci’s comments Sunday came as the US surpassed 19.1 million coronavirus cases, yet another milestone for the pandemic, coming just over 11 months after the first case was recorded in the US in late January.
As of 8 p.m. ET Sunday, Johns Hopkins University has reported 125,041 new cases and 1,160 reported deaths.
More than 333,000 people have died of Covid-19 in the US. Another 193,000 could lose their lives over the next two months, according to predictions from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
“The projections are just nightmarish,” said Dr. Peter Hotez, an infectious disease specialist at the Baylor College of Medicine. “People can still save the lives of their loved ones by practicing social distancing and masks. And remember, vaccines are around the corner.”

Vaccine rollout slow in some places, expert says

Nearly 2 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than 9.5 million doses have been distributed.
Those numbers now include both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines. And while there are lags in data reporting, federal officials had previously said they would vaccinate 20 million people by the end of the year.
Asked about the apparent slow rollout of vaccines, Fauci told Sunday that large, comprehensive vaccine programs with a new vaccine start slow before gaining momentum.
“I’m pretty confident that as we gain more and more momentum, as we transition from December to January and then February to March, I believe we will catch up with the projection,” he said.
Dr. Esther Choo, a professor of emergency medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, explained that vaccine distribution is “just a very complicated thing.”
“At every step, there’s the complexity and there’s a possibility for the delay, whether it’s individual state planning, allocation, training, the supply of vaccine, storage… there (are) just so many factors at this stage,” Choo said.
“We need to be prepared for the fact that it is going to be a slow rollout in many places and that it will not change our behaviors or necessarily the trajectory of the pandemic in this country in the short term,” Choo said.
A number of experts have warned Americans not to let their guard down as vaccinations begin and to continue wearing masks, social distancing, avoiding crowds and gatherings, and regularly washing their hands.
It likely won’t be until summer that vaccines are widely available and begin to make a meaningful impact on the pandemic’s course, officials have said. Fauci estimates about 70% to 85% of the population needs to get vaccinated against Covid-19 for the country to achieve herd immunity.

Expert: Testing requirements won’t help control Covid-19 variant spread

The CDC also announced last week new testing requirements for travelers arriving from the UK, which will go into effect Monday.
Passengers must have had a negative PCR or antigen test within 72 hours of boarding a flight from the UK to the US, along with documentation of their laboratory results. Airlines will be required to confirm the test prior to the flight.
This comes after the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant first detected in the UK, which health officials say “has been predicted to potentially be more rapidly transmissible.” Since the discovery of the variant, more than 40 countries have restricted travel from the UK and in some cases, travel from other countries that have documented cases with the variant.
The third case of the variant first identified in the UK has been detected in Ottawa, Canada, a press release from the Ontario government said Sunday.
The case is a person who recently traveled from the UK, according to the release. That individual is now in self-isolation.
The two previous cases that were reported on Saturday have since been found to have had contact with a recent traveler from the UK, the release said.
One expert says the new testing requirements for travelers into the US have not been implemented quickly enough to be effective against a reported variant.
“It makes sense that for any place that’s experiencing a regional spike in cases that we put new measures in place,” emergency medicine physician Dr. Richina Bicette told CNN. “But if they’re trying to make sure that the virus isn’t imported to the United States, these measures are going to have no effect on that whatsoever.”

Houston hospital offers vaccine to pharmacists, school nurses

A Houston hospital system plans to start vaccinating workers from outside its own buildings with its next phase of shots as the coronavirus continues its surge in Texas and beyond.

The recently approved Moderna vaccines arrived Wednesday in Houston. That cleared the path for healthcare officials at Houston’s Memorial Hermann Health System to begin scheduling appointments for first responders, community pharmacists, and school nurses who were not included in the initial rollout of shots.

Those over the age of 65 or older than 16 and suffering from at least one chronic medical condition will also be eligible.

Texas didn’t follow all the new federal guidelines for distributing the COVID-19 vaccine. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidelines over the weekend to prioritize those aged 75 and older and front-line essential workers in phase 2 of the rollout.

Local leaders have warned Texans to avoid travel ahead of the holiday weekend to reduce the spread of the virus through large gatherings.

Texas has seen the second-highest COVID-19 death count in the country overall, with 26,406 COVID-19 related deaths to date, according to researchers from Johns Hopkins. The state currently ranks 34th in the country for new cases per capita as the rolling average number of daily new cases has increased by 1,721 over the past two weeks. One in every 252 people in Texas tested positive in the past week.

Six days after the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time since 2015, they will try to break another streak.

THIRD QUARTER 

:55 left in the third quarter: Bengals 24, Texans 24. 

After the Bengals defense forced four punts in the first half, the Texans haven’t been stopped yet in the second half. Deshaun Watson led an eight-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that was highlighted by a 48-yard run by David Johnson.

5:46 left in the third quarter: Bengals 24, Texans 17.

Brandon Allen has more passing yards than any quarterback today, and he delivered two deep passes as the Bengals tacked on another touchdown. Allen’s 42-yard pass to Alex Erickson in the middle of the field got the Bengals inside the red-zone, and then Allen delivered a perfect throw to Tee Higgins in the back left corner of the end-zone.

Allen is 22-for-28 for 289 passing yards.

9:05 left in the third quarter: Bengals 17, Texans 17.

The Bengals momentum didn’t last long.

Houston scored on a 75-yard touchdown drive, and Texans running back David Johnson had 49 rushing yards on the drive, including a 38-yard run up the middle.

12:59 left in the third quarter: Bengals 17, Texans 10.

For the first time this season, the Bengals scored off an explosive run. Samaje Perine had a 46-yard touchdown, which was the Bengal’s longest rushing touchdown of the season. He broke multiple tackles before breaking free and sprinting to the end-zone.

Cincinnati scored its first third-quarter touchdown since Week 4.

Halftime: Bengals 10, Texans 10.

The Cincinnati Bengals advanced past midfield on their first four drives and had nearly twice as many first downs as the Houston Texans in the first half.

Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen played his best half of the season, and wide receiver A.J. Green had his biggest catch of the year.

And Cincinnati was still tied with Houston at halftime.

After the Bengals scored a touchdown on the opening drive, they were held to a turnover on downs, a missed field goal and a made field goal on their next three possessions.

That gave Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson an opportunity.

Houston’s Pro Bowl quarterback completed a 50-yard pass with wide receiver Brandin Cooks that set the Texans up for a field goal. Late in the second quarter, Watson completed a 25-yard pass to Cooks that tied the score at 10 points.

SECOND QUARTER

In the first quarter, Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen kept things simple with screen passes and check downs. But then for the first time all season, he converted on aggressive shots down the field.

After finding A.J. Green and Tee Higgins for deep passes down the sideline, kicker Austin Seibert made a 35-yard field goal.

15:00 left in the second quarter: Bengals 7, Texans 3.

Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson threw a 62-yard pass to Brandon Cooks. That brought Houston inside the red-zone, but the Bengals defense held on and limited Houston to a field goal.

At the end of the first quarter, Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen has completed eight of his 10 passes for 95 yards.

FIRST QUARTER

8:32 left in the first quarter: Bengals 7, Texans 0.

The Bengals executed their game-plan on both sides of the ball in the opening seven minutes.

After Cincinnati’s defense picked up a three-and-out, quarterback Brandon Allen led an 8-play, 71-yard touchdown drive. Allen connected with running backs Giovani Bernard and Samaje Perine for long screen passes that brought the Bengals down the field. Then Allen threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Drew Sample.

SE Houston house explosion spreads fire to nearby homes

The Houston Police Department received a call Sunday about a house explosion in southeast Houston.

It happened on Doulton Drive around 11:13 a.m.

Authorities said a person called to report a gas leak. Shortly after, the house blew up.

They said a car also caught on fire, and the fire appeared to have started spreading to other homes.

It is unknown if anyone was inside the home at the time of the explosion.

Authorities have not reported any injuries or deaths.

Baseball Hall of Famer Phil Niekro, who pitched well into his 40s with a knuckleball that baffled big league hitters for more than two decades, mostly with the Atlanta Braves, has died after a long fight with cancer, the team announced Sunday. He was 81.

The Braves said Niekro died Saturday night in his sleep. He lived in the Atlanta suburb of Flowery Branch, where the main thoroughfare bears his name.

Houston Health Department, partners announce free COVID-19 testing schedule for week of December 28
The Houston Health Department and its agency partners are announcing the schedule for sites offering free COVID-19 tests the week of December 28, 2020.

The week will offer 19 FREE+FAST+SAFE testing sites across Houston. Different sites will close on certain days in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Houston Health Department
The Houston Health Department will offer drive-thru testing at two surge sites affiliated with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Southwest Multi-Service Center, 6400 High Star Drive, and Houston Community College – North Forest, 6010 Little York Rd., will offer nasal self swab tests.

The sites will open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments are available at doineedacovid19test.com and on-site registration is also available. Each site has a daily capacity of 1,250 tests.

The department also offers free drive-thru testing via self-nasal swab at the Aramco Services Company, 9009 W. Loop South. The mega testing site will open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The site has a daily capacity of 1,000 tests.

People wanting to get tested at the Aramco site can call the department’s COVID-19 Call Center at 832-393-4220.

The department will offer testing at three community sites that don’t require appointments and remain open until each reaches its daily capacity of 250 tests. The sites and their hours of operation are:

  • Villa Serena Communities, 100 Glenborough Dr., Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., drive-thru, self-nasal swab,
  • Higher Dimension Church, 9800 Club Creek Dr., Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Thursday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., drive-thru, self-nasal swab, and
  • Park Place regional Library, 8145 Park Pl Blvd., Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. drive-thru or walk-up, self-nasal swab.

The department will provide self-nasal swab testing at the METRO Addicks Park & Ride, 14230 Katy Freeway, and the Multicultural Center, 951 Tristar Drive, city of Webster. Appointments are available by calling the department’s call center at 832-393-4220.

Texas Division of Emergency Management
Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Houston Astros offer self-oral swab tests daily at Minute Maid Park (Lot C), 2208 Preston. The testing site’s capacity is 1,200 tests per day.

The site features eight drive-thru testing lanes and four walk-up testing lanes. It will open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Spanish-speaking staff is available on-site.

TDEM and the department will also operate drive-thru sites offering tests Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at:

  • HCC – Northeast Campus, 555 Community College Drive, self-mouth swab tests, and
  • HCC – South Campus, 1990 Airport Blvd., nasal swab tests by healthcare professionals.

TDEM and the department offer drive-thru, nasal-swab tests administered by healthcare professionals at LeRoy Crump Stadium, 12321 Alief Clodine Rd. The site is open Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Appointments for TDEM sites are available at covidtest.tdem.texas.gov. On-site registration is also available.

United Memorial Medical Center
United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) will offer nasal-swab testing by healthcare professionals at drive-thru test sites at:

  • Plaza Americas Mall, 7500 Bellaire Blvd.,
  • Houston Community College – Southeast, 6815 Rustic, and
  • UMMC Tidwell, 510 W. Tidwell Rd.

The sites don’t require appointments and will offer to test Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until reaching a daily capacity of 300 tests.

People needing information about UMMC test sites can call 1-866-333-COVID or visit ummcscreening.com.

Curative
Curative will provide walk-up, self-mouth swab tests Monday through Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at three locations, each with a 900 daily test capacity:

  • Kroger, 9303 S. Highway 6, and

Federally Qualified Health Centers
The health department is providing test kits, lab access, and equipment to local Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) so they can expand their COVID-19 testing capacity. The centers and phone numbers people can call to set up testing appointments are:

FQHC patients pay what they can afford, based on income and family size, and are not denied services due to inability to pay or lack of insurance.

Information obtained through testing, treatment, or services will not be used against immigrants in their public charge evaluation.

Golden Globes Switch ‘Promising Young Woman’ to Drama; ‘Minari’ Remains in Foreign Language Category

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has completed its annual review of film submissions for the Golden Globe awards, and Variety has learned exclusively that many films and performances have been switched from the studios’ intended submissions.

“Promising Young Woman” from Focus Features was switched from comedy to the drama categories. Written and directed by Emerald Fennell, the film that tells the story of a woman seeking revenge on those who wronged her was not accepted by the voting body. Starring Carey Mulligan, the film has received a considerable amount of awards buzz, even rumored to be a big hit with the HFPA themselves. Mulligan recently won the best actress with LAFCA.

Per the HFPA rules, after all the studios submit their entries in the numerous categories, which are split between drama, comedy, lead, and supporting, an initial committee reviews the submissions. According to the official rules, members can then vote to accept the studio’s submission requiring a 2/3 vote to overturn. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association currently includes 89 journalists from more than a dozen countries.

Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” from A24 will follow the precedent set by Lulu Wang’s “The Farewell” last year and will not be competing in the best picture categories, instead, it will be considered in foreign language film because it is primarily in Korean. Stars Steven Yeun and Yeri Han will still be eligible in the leading acting categories in drama.

Breakout star Maria Bakalova in “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” who was submitted for best-supporting actress in a motion picture, was moved to the best actress in a comedy or musical category. Bakalova currently leads in critic’s wins and is one of the leading contenders for the Academy Awards. Past Oscar-winners like Catherine Zeta-Jones in “Chicago” was moved to the leading category by the HFPA, losing to her co-star Renée Zellweger. Zeta-Jones went on to win the SAG, BAFTA, and the Oscar in supporting actress. Abigail Breslin was also switched to the lead category for her work in 2006’s “Little Miss Sunshine,” and failed to nab a Globe nomination while her co-star Toni Collette was shortlisted. Breslin went on to be nominated at the SAG and Oscars for best-supporting actress.

Another source with knowledge has confirmed that Helena Zengel’s turn in Universal Pictures’ “News of the World” from Paul Greengrass was also flagged and could move from supporting to the leading drama category. Alicia Vikander’s work in 2015’s “The Danish Girl” was also moved from supporting to lead, where she was nominated at the Globes before winning both SAG and Oscars in supporting actress. Universal Pictures did not confirm this reporting.

Several sources share that other films and performances have not been accepted in their submission standing. Amazon Studios’ “One Night in Miami” is in the midst of an awards campaign where Kingsley Ben-Adir and Eli Goree are vying for leading nominations, while Aldis Hodge and Leslie Odom Jr. are competing in supporting. The HFPA did not accept the four actors being split and will place them in the same category. The final decision of lead or supporting has yet to be confirmed.

Another Odom Jr. project, Disney Plus’ “Hamilton” from Thomas Kail, has been submitted and accepted by the Golden Globes in the comedy or musical categories. Odom Jr., along with Lin-Manuel Miranda will compete in the lead categories. Phillipa Soo, along with the other cast members, will seek love in support.

Saoirse Ronan’s turn in “Ammonite” was submitted in supporting actress by Neon, but concerns raised that she should be competing in the lead actress in a drama alongside her co-star Kate Winslet. From a source with knowledge of the situation, it seems as though Ronan’s categorization will be accepted.

Other performances and films said to have been questioned include George C. Wolfe’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” which was raised for a switch to the comedy or musical categories. Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne’s work in Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7” was also discussed to be moved from supporting to lead classifications but it’s not clear if the Netflix featured ultimately prevailed.

It should be noted that the Screen Actors Guild Awards honors all submissions by the studios. The Golden Globe nominations will be announced on Feb. 3. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Feb. 28.

Saints’ Alvin Kamara ties NFL record with six rushing touchdowns

It didn’t take long for Alvin Kamara to deliver on Christmas Day.

The New Orleans Saints running back cruised to a 40-yard touchdown run on the game’s opening drive for a quick lead over the Minnesota Vikings. And he did it in style with a pair of green-and-red Christmas-themed cleats that may draw a fine from the league.

Kamara scored six touchdowns against the Vikings and now has 21 touchdowns on the season — his career-high. His six rushing TDs are tied with Ernie Nevers (Chicago Cardinals, 1929) for most in a game in NFL history. Kamara also set a career-high with yards from scrimmage. He was named to his fourth Pro Bowl in four years earlier this week.

The Saints’ offensive line deserves credit, too, on a day when both starting guards Andrus Peat and Nick Easton are out with injuries. The line blew open a big hole for Kamara against Minnesota’s injury-depleted defense.

Kamara may also be benefitting from his festive cleats.
