HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Tropical moisture continues spreading into southeast Texas, and that is leading to scattered tropical rain showers today that could flood streets where a quick 1-2″ of rain falls. These storms could also produce frequent lightning and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
How high are rain chances this weekend?
Saturday’s rain chance is at 70%, with the peak timeframe coming in the afternoon. Sunday, the deepest of the tropical moisture clears out, leaving us with just a 40% chance of showers and storms.
How does next week look?
Drier and hotter! By midweek, as high pressure builds in, temperatures will climb to around 100 degrees.
What’s happening in the tropics?
The main thing we are watching is the tropical moisture from the Gulf moving through SE Texas, but we may see a similar pattern develop again late next week. For a thorough update and in-depth video on what’s happening in the tropics, head to our tropical update page.
