Trump Marks Lowest 100-Day Approval Rating in Eight Decades, Poll Reveals

Donald Trump has set a new record—one he likely did not want. A new ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll shows Trump holding the lowest 100-day approval rating of any U.S. president in 80 years, with widespread disapproval of his policies and deepening economic anxieties among voters.

Presidential job approval at or near 100 days
ABC News / Washington Post / Ipsos poll

Economic Concerns Dominate Public Sentiment

Just 39% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president, a decline of six points since February. Meanwhile, 55% say they disapprove of his performance. This puts Trump even below his own 2017 approval low of 42% at the same milestone.

Economic worries are a major factor driving dissatisfaction. Nearly three-quarters of Americans—72%—believe Trump’s policies are likely to spark a recession in the near future. Seventy-three percent rate the economy as being in poor condition, while more than half, 53%, think it has deteriorated since Trump assumed office earlier this year. Additionally, 41% of Americans say their personal financial situation has worsened under his leadership.

Tariffs Blamed for Rising Prices

Trump’s tariffs are a particular target of criticism. Sixty-two percent of respondents report seeing prices climb, and 71% attribute this inflation directly to the tariffs on international trade. Only 31% buy into Trump’s argument that these measures will ultimately strengthen the U.S. economy.

Beyond financial concerns, 65% of Americans believe Trump’s administration is actively trying to circumvent federal court orders, and 64% think he is pushing too hard to expand presidential powers. A notable 62% say they feel Trump’s White House does not respect the rule of law.

Broad Opposition to Key Policies

ABC News / Washington Post / Ipsos poll

The poll reveals consistent disapproval across a range of Trump’s major initiatives:

  • 67% disapprove of how he is handling recent stock market turmoil
  • 64% disapprove of his approach to tariffs
  • 61% disapprove of his overall handling of the economy and international relations
  • 58% believe he is not advocating for the interests of average Americans

On specific proposals, public opposition is even more pronounced. Seventy-seven percent oppose cuts to federal medical research funding, 70% are against increasing federal control over private universities, and 67% reject ending birthright citizenship.

Republican Loyalty Holds, But Cracks Emerge

Despite declining numbers overall, Trump maintains a stronghold within his party. Eighty-three percent of Republicans say they approve of his performance, although only about half strongly approve. Meanwhile, 93% of Democrats and 60% of independents disapprove, with independents particularly critical—44% strongly disapprove compared to only 15% who strongly approve.

Support among a key Trump constituency, non-college-educated white men, has also softened. Approval among this group stands at 54%, tied with his previous low during his first term. Alarmingly for Trump, 43% of them now believe the economy has worsened under his watch, and one-third report that their personal finances have declined.

Trust in Trump Over Democrats—But Both Sides Struggle

While Trump’s approval numbers are underwater, he still edges out Democrats in Congress when it comes to public trust on key national issues. Thirty-seven percent of Americans say they trust Trump to handle the country’s main problems, compared to 30% who trust congressional Democrats. However, a striking 30% say they trust neither party.

Both major parties are viewed as disconnected from the concerns of average Americans. Sixty percent of respondents believe Trump is out of touch—yet 69% say the same about the Democratic Party, and 64% feel that way about the Republican Party overall.

Among independents, 62% say Trump is out of touch, but even more—76%—believe the Democratic Party is similarly disconnected from everyday concerns.

Courts, Compliance, and Presidential Power

When it comes to the courts, most Americans reject the Trump administration’s accusations of judicial overreach. Sixty-two percent say federal judges are simply enforcing existing legal limits on the president’s authority, not interfering with it.

Additionally, by a two-to-one margin, Americans agree that judges should have the authority to block potentially harmful or illegal administration policies pending trial.

There is also widespread belief—67%—that Trump’s team is actively trying to evade compliance with federal court orders, rather than respecting them.

Shrinking Government: Divided Opinions

Majorities express concern that Trump is pushing too aggressively to shrink the size and role of the federal government. Fifty-eight percent worry he will go too far in cutting back federal agencies, mirroring concerns expressed about government expansion under previous administrations.

Views on deregulation are more divided. Fifty-two percent say they fear the Trump administration will eliminate regulations necessary for public health and safety, while 46% believe unnecessary red tape will be cut without endangering essential protections.

Global Leadership and Relations with Russia

Trump’s impact on America’s standing in the world also draws criticism. Nearly half of Americans—49%—believe Trump has weakened U.S. leadership globally, compared to 34% who think he has strengthened it.

On relations with Russia, 46% say Trump is too friendly toward Moscow, while 40% feel his approach strikes the right balance. Only 11% think he is being too confrontational. These numbers closely resemble attitudes seen early in his first term.

Methodology

The ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll was conducted April 18–22, 2025, using the probability-based Ipsos KnowledgePanel®. Surveys were completed online in English and Spanish with a random sample of 2,464 adults. The partisan breakdown among respondents was 30% Democrat, 30% Republican, and 29% independent. The poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.

Penn Badgley Breaks “No Sex Scenes” Rule for Final Season of You

Penn Badgley has revealed he made a rare exception to his personal boundaries for the final season of Netflix’s hit psychological thriller You. The fifth and final season dropped this week, bringing a close to Badgley’s chilling portrayal of stalker Joe Goldberg.

Why Badgley Reconsidered His Stance

In a candid interview with People magazine, Badgley explained that despite having a “no sex scenes” clause, he agreed to film intimate scenes again because they were crucial to Joe’s storyline.

“I had to throw that out the window,” Badgley admitted. “My desire is always to keep it to the least amount possible, but if it’s necessary, that’s the show we all signed up to make. So, let’s make sure it’s vital, let’s make sure it’s important, it’s deliberate — and we did.”

He emphasized that for the story’s emotional and narrative arc, Joe needed to return to his image as a “romantic icon,” making these scenes essential rather than gratuitous.

A Personal Boundary Set Early On

Badgley had previously shared on his podcast Podcrushed that he requested fewer sex scenes when he first signed on to You. His decision stemmed from wanting to avoid being typecast as a romantic lead and maintaining fidelity in his personal life, particularly his marriage.

“This was a decision I made before I took the show,” he said. “Fidelity, in every relationship, and especially my marriage, is important to me.”

Reflecting on Seven Years as Joe Goldberg

Looking back, Badgley confessed he will “miss [Joe] a little bit,” acknowledging how much the role shaped his personal and professional life throughout his thirties.

“I became a father while I was on this show. I only got married just before I took the role,” he said. “I’ve grown a lot, and I’ve grown with Joe in a strange way.”

Spanning nearly a decade of his life, Badgley described playing Joe as both transformative and sobering, offering him deep personal insights.

Lessons from Playing a Dark Character

Badgley noted that portraying Joe forced him into self-reflection, helping him identify traits he wanted to avoid in himself.

“My thirties have been officially defined by him,” he told The Guardian. “It’s possible that he has made me a better person because he’s caused a lot of reflection.”

He described the experience as an “exercise in understanding all the things I want to avoid” — from manipulation to predatory behavior — and recognized troubling similarities he worked hard to understand and distance himself from.

Grateful for the Ending

Ultimately, Badgley feels relief that the story has concluded.

“It’s a politically intensifying world, and I don’t think this show would make sense starting right now,” he said. “The way this show plays with questions of how we reward bad people was a more playful question eight to 10 years ago. It’s not as playful now, and it comes with way more stakes.”

For Badgley, the timing of You’s conclusion feels right: “I’m really glad it’s ending.”

All five seasons of You are now available for streaming on Netflix. Keep up with the hottest chisme with us on Que Onda Magazine .

Box Office Booms as Sinners Dominates Second Weekend

The box office is roaring back to life, with ticket sales up more than 100% compared to the same weekend last year.

Leading the surge is Warner Bros.’ Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan. Originally expected to battle The Accountant 2 for the top spot with $20–$25 million, Sinners is now projected to earn an impressive $42–$44 million after a strong $13 million Friday.

Following its $48 million debut last week, Sinners could record one of the smallest second-weekend drops ever for a non-holiday release. Thanks to stellar audience scores and the best reviews of Coogler’s career, the supernatural vampire drama has become a true word-of-mouth phenomenon, on track to cross $120 million domestically by Sunday.

Action, Sci-Fi, and Gaming Fuel the Weekend

Several other major releases are contributing to the box office explosion:

The Accountant 2 Scores Big

Amazon MGM Studios’ The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck, is aiming for $23–$25 million. A solid A- CinemaScore and strong reviews (76% on Rotten Tomatoes) have helped it stay competitive.

The sequel reunites Affleck with director Gavin O’Connor and features Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons. The story follows Affleck’s character as he teams up with his estranged brother and a Treasury agent to uncover a deadly conspiracy.

Revenge of the Sith Celebrates 20 Years

Disney’s 20th anniversary rerelease of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is on track for $21–$23 million — potentially reaching $25 million. If it hits the higher end, it would be among the biggest rerelease openings ever, behind 1977’s Star Wars reissue.

The renewed love for the prequel trilogy has been fueled by new generations of fans, as well as appearances by Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

A Minecraft Movie Still Going Strong

Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie continues to perform well, maintaining a strong presence in its fourth weekend.

Smaller Debuts

Screen Gems and Sony’s horror release Until Dawn is expected to open to a modest $7–$8 million, rounding out the top five.

A Weekend to Remember

With Sinners, The Accountant 2, Revenge of the Sith, and A Minecraft Movie all drawing large crowds, the weekend marks a major comeback for theaters — and the excitement is only just getting started.

Pope Francis Laid to Rest at Basilica of St. Mary Major

Pope Francis was laid to rest on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome. He passed away at 88 years old on April 21.

More than 250,000 people gathered at St. Peter’s Square to say goodbye to the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church. The crowd included world leaders and many young people, offering a powerful snapshot of today’s global moment.

Here are the key highlights from the historic event:

A “Pope Among the People”

During the funeral, Pope Francis was honored as a leader of “strength and serenity.” Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, dean of the College of Cardinals, delivered the homily before a massive crowd.

“He established direct contact with individuals and peoples, eager to be close to everyone,” BaTTISTA said. “He gave himself without measure, especially to the marginalized and the least among us.”

Battista described Francis as a pope with an open heart, attentive to the signs of the times and to what the Holy Spirit was awakening within the Church.

Youth Play a Key Role at the Funeral

Thousands of young people gathered in St. Peter’s Square to mourn Pope Francis. His connection with youth was evident, especially during the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of 2025.

Around 80,000 teenagers had registered for the Jubilee of Teenagers, a special event for Catholics aged 12 to 17. Due to Francis’ passing, some changes were made, including the postponement of the canonization of Carlo Acutis — a 15-year-old Italian teen who will become the first “millennial” saint.

Applause as Coffin Leaves the Basilica

As pallbearers carried Pope Francis’ coffin outside, the gathered mourners erupted into applause. This same location had seen his final public appearance when he celebrated Easter Sunday, just a day before his death.

American Journalist Reads Scripture

Young adults were given important roles in the funeral. Kielce Gussie, a 28-year-old American journalist from Vatican News, read the first reading from the Acts of the Apostles in English.

Gussie holds a theology degree from Mount St. Mary’s University and a licentiate in church communication from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy Earns Crowd’s Applause

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife, Olena Zelenska, attended the funeral. The crowd applauded when Zelenskyy appeared on the big screens.

Before the funeral, President Donald Trump met privately with Zelenskyy. According to White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, the meeting was described as a “very productive session.”

First Lady Melania Trump, former President Joe Biden, and former First Lady Jill Biden were also present, seated a few rows behind the Trumps.

Book of Gospels Blows in the Wind

One of the most emotional moments came when the Book of the Gospels, resting atop the pope’s coffin, blew open in the breeze.

The pages revealed the reading, “In the Passion and death of the Lord,” creating a profound and touching scene.

Final Bells for Pope Francis

As the coffin entered St. Peter’s Basilica for the final time, the bells of the Vatican tolled solemnly. After the funeral, which lasted over two hours, the pope’s body was moved to the Basilica of St. Mary Major for burial.

Mourners Line the Streets of Rome

The funeral procession traveled four miles from St. Peter’s Basilica to the Basilica of St. Mary Major. Tens of thousands of mourners lined the streets, many crying and applauding as the white pickup truck carrying Francis’ coffin passed by Rome’s famous landmarks like the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.

Upon reaching the Basilica of St. Mary Major, Pope Francis was seen publicly for the last time. The basilica is scheduled to reopen to visitors on Sunday.

Ohio Man Claims Divine Orders in 911 Call Confessing to Father’s Murder

0

In a chilling 911 call, an Ohio man openly confessed to killing his father, prompting an immediate police response and raising questions about his mental state.

“I’m not gonna lie, I just killed my father,” said 25-year-old Micaiah Swindler, shortly after dialing emergency services. When the dispatcher asked for clarification, Swindler confirmed bluntly: “Like, he’s dead.”

Police in Marysville had already responded to the Swindler residence earlier that same day, investigating a domestic dispute reportedly sparked by an argument over household chores — specifically, doing the dishes.

The situation escalated drastically when Swindler called back hours later, stating that he had stabbed his father. Authorities later identified the victim as 59-year-old Joe Swindler.

When asked by the dispatcher why he committed the act, Micaiah replied, “God, God told me to.” The dispatcher asked him to repeat himself, and Swindler added, “Yes, ma’am… I had orders.”

Neighbor Rich Digney, who witnessed police arriving at the scene, told ABC13 Houston that Swindler appeared eerily calm as officers took him into custody.

In court, prosecutors labeled Swindler as a danger to the community. A judge agreed and set his bond at $1 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 1.

The case continues to unfold as investigators dig deeper into Swindler’s background and mental state.
