House Republicans released Jeffrey Epstein’s “birthday book” and other files, pushing back on Democrats who had only shared the page tied to Donald Trump.

What the Book Contains

The 99-page book is filled with lewd images and birthday notes from well-known figures, including Bill Clinton and Alan Dershowitz. Clinton’s message praised Epstein’s “curiosity,” while Dershowitz submitted a parody magazine cover.

Trump’s Alleged Note

One page featured a drawing and birthday message signed “DJTRUMP.” Trump has denied writing it, calling the document a “Democrat hoax.” He has also filed a $10 billion lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal for reporting on the note.

Why Republicans Released the Files

Oversight Chair James Comer said Democrats “cherry-picked” the Trump page, ignoring new documents such as Epstein’s will and extensive contact lists. Comer stressed Trump is not accused of wrongdoing and said more records, including bank files, could be pursued.

Calls for Transparency

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking, and Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence. Lawmakers from both parties continue to demand full transparency, though the Justice Department maintains there is no incriminating “client list” to disclose.

Lenny Tavárez Uses VMAs Red Carpet to Protest Trump’s Immigration Policies

While most artists kept politics out of the MTV Video Music Awards, Puerto Rican singer Lenny Tavárez made immigration the focus of his appearance.

His red carpet look, a custom Manuel Tiscareño suit embroidered with the words “No Human Is Illegal,” called out the Trump administration’s harsh deportation tactics.

Walking the red carpet in a custom Manuel Tiscareño suit titled Unbroken Chains, Tavárez wore embroidered chains reading “No Human Is Illegal.” The design symbolized freedom while denouncing the Trump administration’s deportation tactics. “The red carpet is a great opportunity to say something with fashion,” Tavárez told Rolling Stone.

Behind the Design

The outfit took more than 100 hours to complete, with 60 devoted to handcrafting silver chains. Designer Tiscareño, a Mexican American, said the piece was deeply personal: “This suit was personal to me. I wanted to touch on the humanity of immigrants.”

Onstage Performance

Tavárez performed with J Balvin and Justin Quiles, who has publicly backed Donald Trump. Tavárez said he didn’t clear his protest look with his collaborators but later received their support.

“May our differences never break what unites us. Humanity should have no borders,” he later wrote on Instagram.

Message Through Music and Fashion

Tavárez used both fashion and performance to spotlight immigration struggles, reminding audiences that “music, art, and fashion have the power to shout what is sometimes meant to be silenced.”

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — If you thought it felt nice outside Monday, just wait until Tuesday! Our coolest temperatures since mid-May are on the way with widespread lows in the mid 60s Tuesday morning. Some spots northeast of Houston could even dip into the upper 50s by sunrise!

Before you go overboard on the fall wardrobe, keep in mind it will warm up to the low 90s in the afternoon, but at least it’s a dry heat! These are also ideal conditions for ozone pollution to form in the afternoon, so we’ll be keeping a watchful eye on the pollution sensors for you. Ozone is a lung irritant that can trigger a dry cough and asthma attacks in sensitive individuals.

How long does the lower humidity stick around?

We get to enjoy it through Wednesday afternoon! By Wednesday night, the muggy Gulf air is on the move and blowing back through Southeast Texas.

So no more low humidity for the weekend?

Correct. We’re back to hot, humid weather Thursday and it continues on through the weekend and most of next week. For Saturday and Sunday we expect lows in the mid 70s and highs in the mid 90s. We can’t rule out a stray shower either day, but the rain chance is less than 20%.

What is happening in the tropics?

There is no tropical development in the Atlantic Basin expected over the next 7 days, which is incredible considering it is the peak of hurricane season. CDC Warns of Salmonella Outbreak from Home Delivery Meals

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has linked a multistate salmonella outbreak to ready-to-eat meals made by the company Metabolic Meals. Customers are urged to throw away affected products or contact the company while the investigation continues.

Illnesses Across 10 States

At least 16 people in 10 states have reported illness, and seven have been hospitalized. The cases span Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. No deaths have been reported.

Meals Under Recall

The CDC identified specific meals delivered during the week of July 28, 2025, that should not be eaten:

  • Four Cheese Tortellini with Pesto Sauce and Grilled Chicken (lot 25199, best by Aug. 7)
  • Low Carb Chicken Teriyaki and Vegetables (lot 25202, best by Aug. 5)
  • Black Garlic & Ranch Chicken Tenders with Roasted Vegetables (lot 25205, best by Aug. 8)
  • Sliced Top Sirloin with Roasted Peanut Sauce and Summer Vegetables (lot 25203, best by Aug. 6)

Other affected lot codes include 25199, 25202, 25203, 25204, and 25205.

Reckless Disregard for the Truth

The three-judge panel found Trump acted with reckless disregard for the truth when he called Carroll a liar and said she was not his type. They noted his comments, viewed by over 85 million people, led to a wave of online abuse and death threats against Carroll.

Damages Upheld

The court affirmed $18.3 million in compensatory damages and $65 million in punitive damages, rejecting Trump’s claim the award was excessive. The opinion emphasized his repeated and escalating attacks against Carroll over nearly five years of litigation.

Carroll’s Legal Victory

Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan, said the ruling confirms “E. Jean Carroll was telling the truth, and that President Donald Trump was not.” She added the damages reflect the serious harm Carroll endured from threats and harassment.

Previous Judgment

This decision follows a separate 2023 jury ruling that found Trump liable for sexually assaulting Carroll and defaming her again in 2022, which awarded her $5 million. That judgment also withstood Trump’s appeal.
