Former Miss Universe Jamaica Contestant Tyra Spaulding Dead at 26

0

Tyra Spaulding, a former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant, has died at the age of 26. Her body was discovered at her apartment on Tuesday, according to Caribbean National Weekly. Authorities are investigating her death as a possible suicide.

Miss Universe Jamaica Pays Tribute

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization confirmed Spaulding’s death on Instagram the following day, posting a heartfelt statement alongside a photo and video of the beauty queen on the runway.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of the beautiful Tyra Spaulding,” the statement read. “She was a radiant soul and an amazing human being. Her light, grace, beauty and kind spirit touched every life she encountered.”

The organization added that they are keeping Spaulding’s family, friends, and loved ones in their prayers while celebrating her life.

Fans Send Condolences

Supporters flooded the post’s comments section with condolences. “Condolences to her loved ones and the MUJ franchise. My heart just broke when the news broke,” one user wrote. Another added, “Praying for her family. May her soul R.I.P.”

Spaulding’s Struggles With Mental Health

Weeks before her death, Spaulding spoke openly about her mental health on YouTube, sharing she was “fighting for her life.”

“I feel like I need to go out and do something because my mind is trying to kill me,” she said in a September 4 video. “Every day I get up, my mind tells me to jump off a building, to overdose on pills, to hang myself.”

She added she didn’t know why these thoughts had appeared but was doing everything she could to stay alive and distract herself from them.

Raising Awareness

In the same video, Spaulding questioned how many others might be going through similar struggles, saying it felt like “two different me’s” were at odds — one wanting to live and one wanting to die.

Amazing weather for the weekend! How long will it last?

0

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’ve got several delightful mornings in the forecast with warm, sunny afternoons

Dry air that blew in Thursday will stick around for the foreseeable future, bringing Houston pleasant mornings in the 60s and warm afternoons near 90.

What can we expect for the weekend?

Really, really nice weather. Morning lows are dipping into the 60s, sunshine will warm highs to near 90 (but with low humidity), and unhealthy levels of ozone pollution could pop up. Ozone is a lung irritant that can cause a dry cough and asthma attacks in sensitive individuals.

When does the humid air return?

The higher humidity levels may hold off until after the first weekend of October! Dew points each afternoon through next week will bottom out in the 40s and 50s, making for some really nice weather.

Are we slipping back into drought?

Well, that is the one downside to all this low humidity and below normal rain totals since September 1. Our rain chances are near zero percent for the next 1-2 weeks, and the warm, dry air will keep drying out the ground. Unusually dry conditions now cover most of Southeast Texas, and soon moderate drought could return in the absence of any rain.

What is happening in the tropics?

Hurricane Humberto is now a major hurricane over the central Atlantic, and newly designated Potential Storm Nine is predicted to eventually become Hurricane Imelda before bringing a flooding rain threat to the Southeast U.S. next week. Epstein Schedules Reveal High-Profile Names

0

Newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate include draft schedules listing meetings with Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon. The notes, made public Friday by House Oversight Committee Democrats, do not contain accusations of wrongdoing.

Mentions of Elon Musk

A December 6, 2014, entry notes a possible trip for Musk to “an island,” though it questions if the visit would happen. Musk has said Epstein repeatedly invited him to his private island but that he declined. He previously visited Epstein’s Manhattan home once with his then-wife, saying he observed only “weird art.”

Breakfast With Bill Gates

The day before, December 5, 2014, Epstein had a tentative breakfast scheduled with Gates. Gates has acknowledged meeting Epstein several times, calling those interactions “a huge mistake” and saying he had hoped—unsuccessfully—that the connection might benefit his global health philanthropy.

Meetings With Peter Thiel

A November 27, 2017, note shows a planned lunch with investor Peter Thiel in New York. Epstein reportedly sought multiple meetings with Thiel during the mid-2010s. Thiel has described Epstein as “a crazed networker and low on substance.”

Regular Contact With Steve Bannon

Epstein’s calendar also listed a February 2019 breakfast with former White House strategist Steve Bannon, just months before Epstein’s arrest. Epstein’s brother has said Bannon attempted to help rehabilitate Epstein’s image after damaging media reports, though Bannon has framed their meetings as part of a documentary project that has never been released.

No Allegations in the Records

The schedules—covering dates after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor—include routine activities such as haircuts and movie screenings alongside high-profile names. Lawmakers emphasized that the documents merely reflect planned meetings and do not imply criminal conduct by those mentioned.

Remains of Fugitive Father Identified Accused of Murdering His Three Daughters

0

Authorities have confirmed that human remains found in Washington’s wilderness belong to Travis Decker, a military veteran accused of killing his three young daughters at a Chelan County campground on June 2. The discovery ends a three-month manhunt.

Discovery on Grindstone Mountain

Investigators located the remains on Sept. 18 about three-quarters of a mile from where the girls’ bodies were found at Rock Island Campground. DNA testing later confirmed the identity. Sheriff Mike Morrison called it “a big day” for law enforcement and a step toward closure for the community.

Breakthrough in the Search

The find followed a key development when a Spokane County dive team recovered Decker’s key fob from Icicle Creek. That evidence led multiple agencies to conduct grid searches, eventually uncovering a shirt, shorts, bracelet, chewing tobacco, and human remains consistent with Decker.

Background of the Case

Decker’s ex-wife, Whitney Decker, had sought to limit his visitation rights, citing worsening mental health and his transient lifestyle. After he failed to return the girls from a custody visit, their bodies were discovered with signs of suffocation and binding.

Military Service and Charges

An Army infantryman from 2013 to 2021, Decker served in Afghanistan and had extensive survival training. He faced state charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping, along with a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Closure for the Family

Federal prosecutors have dismissed the case following confirmation of Decker’s death. “To Whitney, we apologize it’s taken this long to get the closure we were looking for,” Sheriff Morrison said, adding that the DNA results finally bring the investigation to a close.

Alyssa Milano Removes Breast Implants, Embraces ‘Authentic Self’

0

Actor Alyssa Milano revealed on Instagram that she had her breast implants removed, calling the decision a return to her “authentic self.” Sharing a hospital photo, the 52-year-old “Charmed” alum said she no longer feels the need to maintain a body she once believed was required “to be attractive; to be loved; to be successful; to be happy.”

Finding Freedom and Self-Acceptance

“I’m loved, I am feminine, I am attractive, and I am successful without my breast augmentation,” Milano wrote. “Today, I’m my authentic self. Today, I’m free.” She added that letting go of those expectations also frees her daughter Bella from feeling similar pressures.

Supports Choice for Others

While removal was right for her, Milano emphasized support for women who choose implants: “What is a false narrative for me may be the exact right thing for them, and I am so happy that we can all find our femininity and peace on our own terms.”

Celebrities and Implant Trends

Milano joins other stars who have spoken about implant removal. SZA cited health issues in 2024, Denise Richards underwent a corrective procedure after a rupture, and Danica Patrick linked years of unexplained symptoms to Breast Implant Illness.

Health Considerations

The FDA warns breast implants carry risks including capsular contracture, rupture, cancer of the immune system, and Breast Implant Illness. Milano said she is recovering well, “cozy in my bed eating the food my mama made me.”

Trump Announces 100% Tariff on Brand-Name Drug Imports Starting October 1

0

President Donald Trump said Thursday that brand-name or patented pharmaceuticals will face a 100% tariff beginning Oct. 1 unless the manufacturer is building a U.S. plant. Trump framed the move as a way to pressure companies to expand domestic production and strengthen medicine supply chains.

Drugmakers Race to Expand U.S. Manufacturing

Major pharmaceutical firms have already unveiled plans worth hundreds of billions to build or expand U.S. facilities. Eli Lilly recently announced a $6.5 billion plant in Houston and a $5 billion site in Virginia. Trump clarified on Truth Social that projects counted as “building” if construction has broken ground.

Market Reaction and Industry Concerns

Stocks of large European drugmakers barely moved following the announcement, as many already operate U.S. facilities. Asian pharmaceutical stocks dipped more sharply. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America warned that tariffs could divert funds from research and U.S. investments.

Limited Impact Expected in Near Term

Analysts say the immediate effect will be modest. Many big drugmakers have U.S. production or stockpiles, and a global manufacturing network means the U.S. will still depend on foreign ingredients. Smaller manufacturers without U.S. plants may face higher costs.

Generics Largely Exempt—for Now

Trump’s plan targets only brand-name drugs, leaving generic imports untaxed. Experts caution that future action on generics could worsen shortages. India, a major generic supplier, is expected to avoid impact because of existing U.S. facilities and its focus on low-cost medicines.

Broader Tariff Push

The pharmaceutical tariff coincides with Trump’s new levies on other goods, including a 50% tariff on kitchen cabinets, a 30% tariff on upholstered furniture, and a 25% tariff on heavy trucks made outside the U.S.

Missing Man Found Alive in South Carolina Basement as Caregiver Faces 16 Charges

0

The sister of a missing man found alive in a South Carolina basement after years of searching described the moment as devastating.

“He really didn’t say anything because I think he was still in trauma and shock,” Terisa Hinson told WSOC-TV. “I walked out the room and started crying because it was just so heartbreaking.”

Accused Caregiver Faces Multiple Charges

Donnie Ray Birchfield Jr. is accused of imprisoning several people in his basement and exploiting them financially. He faces 16 charges, including false imprisonment and exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Birchfield’s attorney, M. Ryan Payne, said his client maintains his innocence.

Victims Trapped, One Found Dead

Hinson said her brother was discovered in the basement alongside his wife, who was found dead. “I wanna know why. Why them?” she asked. Police warrants state Birchfield, the sole caregiver for the couple, denied them food, medical care, and communication while preventing them from leaving.

Financial Exploitation Alleged

Investigators say Birchfield used the victims’ debit cards and bank accounts to make personal purchases and pay his own credit card bills since September 2022.

Brother’s Condition

Hinson said her brother appeared “feeble,” weighing about 70 pounds when hospitalized. He has a developmental disability and lived independently before disappearing several years ago.

Ongoing Investigation

Birchfield is held on a $150,000 bond. Lancaster Police told Newsweek the investigation continues and additional charges may follow.
