
Authorities discovered a package containing two vials of what officials described as a “homemade explosive substance” near the Arizona State Capitol in downtown Phoenix on Monday.
Courts and nearby buildings evacuated
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said multiple buildings along the Capitol Mall were evacuated, including the State Courts Building, which houses the Arizona Supreme Court and the Arizona Court of Appeals.
Building remains closed amid investigation
Officials said the State Courts Building will remain closed while additional security sweeps are conducted. After the sweeps are completed, the package will be removed for further investigation and disposal.
Investigation ongoing
No injuries were reported. Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional details will be released as they become available.
