Sea fog and a few showers possible Monday as record warm stretch continues

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Sunday was the second day in a row with record highs in the city of Houston in the low 80s. And we’re expecting several more to be added this week with this warm, humid pattern lasting throughout the week.

With the humid air in place, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Monday morning for the coastal waters including Matagorda Bay and Galveston Bay as well as for counties along the coast. Thick sea fog that developed over gulf waters is expected to slowly surge inland south of I-10 thanks to a gulf breeze. A few light showers are possible early in the morning Monday through lunchtime. This as it’ll be a bit cloudier in the morning, some more sunshine in the afternoon and highs climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s once again.

Is it still looking warm for Christmas week?

Yep. December’s version of a heat ridge will park it over Texas for the week of Christmas. This will push highs toward record levels in the low 80s just about every day of the week. Bah humbug!

Are there any more freezes in the forecast?

Not for awhile! We are looking at above average low temperatures all the way through Christmas Day…and beyond. It’s hard to get a freeze when lows only drop into the 60s. We do have a cold front penciled in for the closing days of 2025, but we likely have to wait until January for our next chance at a freeze.

What about some measurable rain or any storms?

While there’s the chance for a few passing showers Monday and Tuesday, beyond that we don’t have much rain on the horizon. That said, some of the recent relief from drought conditions we saw this past fall wont last long, so drought conditions could creep back into the region heading into the New Year with this warmer and, though humid, relatively dry humid.
