Tens of Thousands of Pages Released

The House Oversight Committee announced that the Department of Justice has turned over 33,295 pages of Jeffrey Epstein–related records. Chairman James Comer issued a subpoena in August, and the DOJ said it will continue producing documents while redacting victim identities and any child sexual abuse material.

What’s New in the Files

Democrats on the committee noted that most of the records were already public. Rep. Ro Khanna of California said about 97% of the files had been previously released, with only 3% considered new material.

Political Fallout

The Trump administration has faced criticism from MAGA supporters for its decision last month not to release more Epstein-related files. The administration reversed course after pressure from lawmakers and the public.

The “Client List” Rumors

For years, conspiracy theories have circulated that Epstein kept a secret “client list” of powerful figures. In July, the Justice Department and FBI stated they found no evidence such a list exists, despite persistent speculation.

Epstein’s Death

Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender, died by suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
