Mireddys González Breaks Silence on Divorce from Daddy Yankee

0

After months of keeping a low profile, Mireddys González, the ex-wife of reggaeton legend Daddy Yankee, has spoken out about the emotional toll of their recent divorce.

The Puerto Rican power couple, whose nearly 30-year marriage officially ended, had built both a life and a business empire together.

Emotional Reflection on Social Media

Following the finalization of their divorce, González took to Instagram with a heartfelt message that resonated with her followers. In her post, she expressed the difficulty of letting go of loved ones, writing, “I’m proud of myself. No one knows how hard it was to let go of people I loved, to say NO when I was dying to say YES… Thank you, but I don’t want to go back anymore.”

The End of an Era

Judge Eva Soto of the Puerto Rico Court of First Instance ruled that the marriage ended due to an “irreparable breakdown.” While neither Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, nor Mireddys has publicly disclosed many details, the legal separation marks the conclusion of a relationship that blended love, family, and professional success.

The couple married when they were just 18, and together they helped shape the reggaeton industry, co-founding El Cartel Records and Los Cangris Inc. Despite their long history, reports suggest that tensions had been brewing for years, culminating in Daddy Yankee’s public announcement of their intent to divorce last December.

Legal and Family Implications

As they navigate life post-divorce, legal battles over their business assets continue. The process of dividing their multimillion-dollar empire remains ongoing, adding complexity to an already difficult transition.

Their children—Yamilette, Jeremy, and Jesaaelys Ayala González—are also adjusting to the changes, with the public keeping a close eye on how the high-profile split affects the family dynamic.

Moving Forward

Mireddys has made it clear that she is focusing on her future, embracing a new chapter with resilience. Her social media message not only highlights her personal growth but also serves as an inspiration for others experiencing similar struggles.

Meanwhile, Daddy Yankee continues to maintain his influence in the music industry, though he has recently shifted his focus toward his faith and spirituality. Despite the personal challenges, he remains an icon in the reggaeton world.

As both move forward on separate paths, their story remains a poignant reminder of the complexities of love, success, and personal transformation.

NASA Monitors Car-Sized Asteroid Speeding Past Earth at 15,000 MPH

NASA Monitors Car-Sized Asteroid Speeding Past Earth at 15,000 MPH

NASA is closely tracking an asteroid roughly the size of a compact car as it hurtles past Earth today at an astonishing speed of 15,000 miles per hour. The asteroid, designated “2025 DQ,” measures approximately 12 feet across and will pass at a distance of about 186,000 miles—closer than the moon, according to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

Asteroids in Earth’s Vicinity

2025 DQ isn’t the only space rock making a close pass today. Another asteroid, “2012 DZ,” with an estimated diameter ranging between 52 and 118 feet, is also making its way past our planet. However, this asteroid will remain at a safer distance of approximately 662,000 miles from Earth, according to the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS).

Just last week, another significant asteroid event occurred. On February 13, an asteroid named “2025 CN,” about the size of a bus at 28 feet across, skimmed past Earth at an even faster speed of 18,700 miles per hour.

Understanding Near-Earth Objects

Asteroids are remnants from the formation of the solar system, dating back 4.6 billion years. Most of these rocky bodies are found in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, but some have orbits that bring them close to Earth. Near-Earth objects (NEOs) can vary in size from small 10-foot rocks to massive bodies nearly 25 miles across. While the majority of these space rocks pose no immediate threat, NASA keeps a watchful eye on a category known as “potentially hazardous asteroids” (PHAs). These asteroids are typically over 460 feet in size and come within 4.6 million miles of Earth’s orbit.

Addressing Impact Concerns

Earlier this week, CNEOS updated impact probability data for an asteroid called “2024 YR4.” Initially, scientists recorded a 3.1 percent chance of collision with Earth in 2032—one of the highest probabilities ever noted for an asteroid of this size. However, subsequent calculations lowered that likelihood to just 0.28 percent.

Despite the presence of numerous PHAs in our solar system, experts assure the public that none pose an imminent danger. “The ‘potentially hazardous’ designation simply means that over many centuries or millennia, an asteroid’s orbit may shift closer to Earth. We do not assess these long-term possibilities of impact,” explained Paul Chodas, manager of CNEOS.

NASA continues to monitor space objects closely, refining tracking techniques and updating predictions to ensure planetary safety. With advancements in technology, scientists are better equipped than ever to predict and mitigate potential asteroid threats.

Congressman Sylvester Turner, Community Leaders, Hosts Town Hall to Address Community Concerns

Congressman Sylvester Turner recently hosted a town hall in Spring, Texas, to connect with constituents and provide updates on pressing legislative matters. The event, held at a facility in the Spring Independent School District (Spring ISD), featured discussions on education, executive orders, data protection, immigration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

Superintendent of Spring ISD welcomed the congressman and attendees, emphasizing the importance of keeping the community informed. “We are honored to host this event,” the superintendent said. “It is crucial that we share information and ensure our community understands the issues affecting them.”

Legislative Updates and Concerns

Turner highlighted his commitment to keeping constituents informed about developments in Washington, D.C. He noted that members of Congress spend three out of four weeks in Washington but dedicate time to their districts to engage directly with the public.

“A lot is happening in D.C., and it’s important for people to stay informed,” Turner said. “This week, I am here in the district, meeting people where they are.”

One of the key topics addressed was the recent surge in executive orders. Turner expressed concern over the number of executive orders issued in a short period, stating that they impact various sectors, including data privacy, education, and immigration.

Protecting Taxpayer Data

Turner announced the introduction of the Taxpayer Data Protection Act, aimed at safeguarding confidential information. He raised concerns about external entities, including private organizations, accessing taxpayer data through the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“Your Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and taxpayer information must remain protected,” Turner emphasized. “This bill ensures that only vetted individuals can access such critical data.”

He urged bipartisan support for the legislation, calling on constituents to contact their representatives and advocate for data privacy protections.

Education and the Department of Education

Addressing concerns over the future of the Department of Education, Turner warned against efforts to dismantle or significantly reduce its role. He stressed the importance of Title I funding, which provides essential resources for low-income students.

“Title I helps level the playing field for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds,” Turner stated. “Eliminating or reducing the Department of Education would directly impact schoolchildren across the country.”

He called on community members to advocate for maintaining the department’s funding and role in supporting public education.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Under Attack

Turner also spoke about the recent rollback of federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. He condemned actions that undermine equal opportunity programs, particularly those affecting federal employees working on DEI initiatives.

“Diversity, equity, and inclusion are about ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities,” he said. “These principles have been upheld for decades, and we must continue to defend them.”

Immigration and Executive Orders

The town hall also addressed concerns over immigration policies, including executive orders targeting undocumented individuals. Turner noted that immigration enforcement had expanded to places traditionally considered off-limits, such as schools, hospitals, and churches.

He reassured undocumented individuals in his district that they have rights and should not live in fear. “If you are born in this country, you are an American citizen—period. That is a fundamental right enshrined in our Constitution,” Turner affirmed.

Additionally, he highlighted the need for families to know their legal rights amid heightened immigration enforcement. “People need to know their rights. There are parents afraid to send their children to school or go to work due to fear of deportation,” he said. “We must ensure our communities are safe and informed.”

Congressmen Turner introduces Fiel Executive Director Cesar Espinosa

Alongside turner, several community advocates joined the townall to discuss the importance of knowing one’s rights amid ongoing immigration enforcement actions. Among the speakers was Cesar Espinosa, executive director of one of Texas’ largest immigrant-led civil rights organizations, who emphasized the need for awareness and preparedness.

“If someone knocks on your door, you don’t have to answer,” Espinosa told the audience. “If someone shows up at a school, teachers must refer them to the principal or superintendent.”

Espinosa’s Journey and Advocacy Espinosa has been at the forefront of immigration advocacy for over 17 years, working to ensure that undocumented individuals understand their legal protections. He shared his own experience of being brought to the U.S. as a child from Mexico City and the challenges he faced as an undocumented youth.

“My mother always told us never to tell anyone we didn’t have papers because we didn’t know who might call immigration authorities on us,” he said.

His organization, which started as a small student club, has since grown to more than 60,000 members. It provides legal services, disaster recovery assistance, and policy advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.

The Economic Impact of Immigration Policies The event also addressed the economic impact of immigration policies. Espinosa pointed out that 40% of construction workers and 60% of agricultural laborers in the U.S. are undocumented, stressing that mass deportations would lead to increased housing and food prices.

“If they stop building homes, your home costs go up. If they stop working the farms, your grocery bill rises,” he said.

Concerns Over New Immigration Laws Espinosa also highlighted concerns over new immigration laws, including Texas’ Operation Lone Star, which allows for the detention of individuals suspected of transporting undocumented people.

“Many people detained under this law are simply family members or coworkers in a car together,” he said. “This affects all of us, not just immigrants. If our economy suffers, we all suffer.”

Empowering Communities Through Knowledge He urged community members to stay informed and exercise their rights, noting that knowing how to respond during encounters with law enforcement can prevent unnecessary detentions.

“Too many people are being picked up as collateral damage simply because they didn’t know their rights,” Espinosa said. “We need to stand together to protect our communities.”

Legal Guidance and a Call to Action The event concluded with legal experts providing guidance on what to do during interactions with immigration authorities and law enforcement. Espinosa reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for immigrant rights, urging continued advocacy and education.

“Houston is strong because of its diversity. We must work together to ensure everyone is treated fairly,” he said.

Janelle Robles speaks at Congressmen Turner’s Know Your Rights townhall.

Know Your Constitutional Rights: A Guide by Attorney Janelle Robles

Janelle Robles, a criminal defense attorney with experience in immigration law also spoke at the townhall. Robles has served as a prosecutor, a public defender, an appointed Magistrate Judge, and now I am back to practicing as a defense attorney.

Understanding Constitutional Rights

The U.S. Constitution is the most important legal document in the country, protecting everyone within U.S. territory, regardless of legal status. Awareness of these rights can significantly impact interactions with law enforcement and immigration officials.

The Fifth Amendment: Right to Remain Silent

Everyone has the right to remain silent when questioned by law enforcement or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. In Texas, an officer may ask for an individual’s name and date of birth, which must be provided. If asked for an address, that information must also be given. However, if a person does not have a driver’s license or another form of ID, they are not required to provide identification.

If an individual possesses a U.S. or Texas ID, even if expired, it is advisable to present that instead of foreign documentation. Carrying a Mexican Matricula or a foreign passport may alert authorities to one’s immigration status, potentially complicating the situation.

ICE bears the burden of proving that a person does not have legal status. Individuals should avoid voluntarily providing any information that may assist in an investigation.

The Sixth Amendment: Right to an Attorney

Everyone has the right to an attorney when facing criminal charges. If a person cannot afford legal representation, the court must appoint an attorney. However, in immigration proceedings, this right does not exist. Individuals must hire their own attorney but always retain the right to state, “I would like to speak to an attorney,” before continuing discussions with law enforcement or immigration officials.

The Fourth Amendment: Protection Against Unreasonable Search and Seizure

If law enforcement requests consent to search a vehicle, individuals are not required to comply. They may simply state, “I respectfully decline to give consent to search my vehicle.”

If law enforcement arrives at a residence, they must have a warrant signed by a judge to enter unless consent is given. A home is highly protected under the law, and residents should always request an official order before allowing entry.

There are two types of orders that individuals without legal status might encounter:

  • An administrative detention or removal order – This is not signed by a judge and does not permit ICE to enter a home.
  • A judicial arrest warrant – This is signed by a judge and allows law enforcement to enter a home if the named individual is inside. If an individual is named in the warrant, it is often advisable to turn themselves in rather than allow officers inside, as this could lead to the detention of others in the household.

Avoiding Fraudulent Documents

Individuals should ensure that they do not possess fraudulent documents, such as fake Social Security cards or IDs, when stopped by police. For example, young individuals may carry fake IDs to gain entry into clubs, but possessing fraudulent documents can result in serious legal consequences.

Immigrants and Crime: Debunking Misconceptions

A common misconception is that immigrants commit more crimes than U.S. citizens. Studies indicate that immigrants actually commit fewer crimes than U.S.-born individuals.

Legal professionals have represented individuals from diverse backgrounds and immigration statuses in criminal cases. In some instances, immigrants have been charged with crimes for actions that would not typically be considered violent. For example, a day laborer was recently charged with a violent felony despite a lack of credible evidence. Fortunately, the case was resolved due to reasonable prosecutors and judges who recognized its flaws.

Final Thoughts

It is essential for all individuals, regardless of legal status, to understand their constitutional rights. Exercising the right to remain silent, requesting an attorney, refusing to speak without legal counsel, and knowing when officers are permitted to enter a home can significantly impact legal outcomes.

This information serves as a general guide, but every case is unique. Anyone with questions or in need of legal advice should consult with an attorney.

Congressmen Turner delivers closing remarks at his Know Your Rights townhall.

Call to Action

Turner concluded the town hall by encouraging residents to stay engaged and advocate for their interests. “Whether you are here documented or undocumented, I am your congressman,” he assured attendees. “I want you to go to school, go to work, and seek medical care without fear.”

The event underscored Turner’s dedication to his district, highlighting key legislative battles and reaffirming his commitment to protecting the rights and well-being of his constituents.

Man Sentenced to Three Years for Throwing Girlfriend’s Dogs from Third-Floor Apartment in Houston

0

A Houston man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to animal cruelty for throwing his girlfriend’s two dogs from a third-floor balcony. The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office confirmed the conviction of Robert Lee Thomas III following an investigation into the disturbing incident.

Incident Details

The case dates back to April 2024, when Harris County Animal Cruelty Investigators, in collaboration with the Houston SPCA, responded to a report of physical abuse involving two small dogs at an apartment complex in southern Harris County.

Witnesses captured video footage of Thomas throwing a wire dog crate containing a Yorkshire Terrier and a black Chihuahua from the third floor of the building.

Upon arrival, authorities found that the Yorkshire Terrier had sustained severe injuries, including a fractured spine. Due to the extent of its trauma, the dog had to be euthanized. The Chihuahua, though unharmed, was removed from the home to prevent further mistreatment.

Legal Consequences

Following the investigation, Thomas was charged with animal cruelty. He later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Reporting Animal Abuse

Officials urge the public to report any cases of animal abuse or neglect. In Houston, reports can be made by calling 311, where Spanish-speaking representatives are available. Harris County residents may also call 832-927-PAWS (7297) or submit an online complaint form. Reports can also be submitted through the Houston SPCA website at www.houstonspca.org or by calling 713-869-7722.

For other animal-related concerns:

  • Rabies Investigation: 713-229-7300
  • Animal Shelter Services: 713-229-7300
  • Barking Dog Complaints (Police): 713-222-3131
  • Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP): 713-497-0591
  • Dead Animal Removal: 713-699-7996
  • Harris County Rabies Control: 281-999-3191

This case serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of animal cruelty and the importance of reporting abuse to protect vulnerable animals.

FBI and Police Thwart Potential School Attack in Texas, Two Teenage Girls in Custody

0

Federal and local law enforcement swiftly intervened to prevent what officials described as a planned “mass casualty attack” targeting Memorial High School in Harris County.

Two teenage girls, ages 15 and 16, were taken into custody after the FBI identified credible threats involving the use of pipe bombs and firearms.

The FBI became aware of the threats on Tuesday and deemed them serious enough to prompt immediate action. By 2:45 p.m., the agency contacted local law enforcement partners in Montgomery County, Harris County, and the Spring Branch Independent School District. Working together, authorities located and detained both suspects within just 30 minutes.

“I got the call from the FBI agent we work closely with, who provided credible information. We immediately located the student and went to the school, where she was detained and interviewed,” said Spring Branch ISD Police Chief Larry Baimbridge in a statement to ABC News.

Baimbridge credited the rapid response to strong collaboration between federal and state law enforcement. “This is exactly how information like this should be handled. I’m grateful to the FBI for getting us the information right away, allowing us to act quickly,” he added.

According to FBI Houston spokesman Connor Hagan, the successful operation was a result of coordinated efforts between the FBI’s Houston office, Spring Branch ISD Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Houston Police Department.

“We took concerning information, conducted a rapid investigation, turned our findings over to trusted law enforcement partners, and ultimately saved innocent lives,” Hagan stated. “This type of situation is exactly why the FBI exists.”

The 16-year-old suspect, a student at Memorial High School, faces a charge of making a terroristic threat, while the 15-year-old is in custody in Montgomery County on an unrelated charge.

Authorities have not yet recovered firearms, explosives, or bomb-making materials in Harris County, but investigations are ongoing in both Harris and Montgomery Counties.

This case comes just a week after the FBI helped law enforcement in Mooresville, Indiana, disrupt another potential school attack following online threats.

Hagan emphasized the importance of collaborative threat mitigation efforts. “We have officers from dozens of local agencies embedded with our agents, working on these threats daily. FBI agents and federally deputized task force officers are essential to keeping our communities safe,” he said.

Trump Firma Orden Ejecutiva para Bloquear Beneficios Federales a Inmigrantes Indocumentados

0

Pope Francis Shows Signs of Recovery Amid Pneumonia Battle

0

Pope Francis is making progress in his recovery from pneumonia, with the Vatican reporting that he had breakfast outside of bed on Thursday morning following a restful night at Rome’s Gemelli hospital. This marks his sixth consecutive night of stable condition, according to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni.

Bruni provided an update on the 88-year-old pontiff’s health, revealing that recent blood tests indicated a slight improvement in inflammation markers. Francis, who has a history of respiratory issues and previously battled an acute case of pneumonia in 2023, remains under medical supervision, particularly given the heightened risks posed by winter infections.

On Wednesday, Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni became the first high-profile visitor to meet with the pope during his hospital stay. After their 20-minute conversation, she noted that Francis appeared to be in good spirits, even displaying his characteristic sense of humor.

The pope was admitted to the hospital on February 14 after his bronchitis worsened. Medical evaluations later confirmed pneumonia in both lungs, along with a polymicrobial respiratory infection—a complex mix of bacterial, viral, and other pathogens. He is currently undergoing treatment with antibiotics and cortisone to manage his condition, which doctors have also classified as asthmatic bronchitis.

Despite his resilient heart, Francis faces additional health challenges. His limited mobility, reliance on a wheelchair due to knee issues, and a past lung surgery have made him particularly vulnerable to complications. His medical team remains cautious, as pneumonia in elderly patients often presents difficulties in clearing fluid from the lungs. The pope himself has acknowledged that he is not always the most cooperative patient, adding a layer of complexity to his recovery process.

For now, the Vatican remains optimistic, with signs of progress suggesting that the pope is gradually regaining strength. His condition continues to be closely monitored as the world watches and prays for his full recovery.

Apple Unveils iPhone 16e with High-End Features

Apple has expanded its latest smartphone lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 16e, a more affordable addition to the iPhone 16 series.

Announced on Wednesday, the iPhone 16e is designed to offer impressive performance, enhanced battery life, and advanced features at a lower price point. Customers will be able to pre-order the new device starting Friday, with an official launch date set for February 28.

iPhone 16e: A Balance of Affordability and Performance

New iPhone 16e: Courtesy of Apple.

The iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s A18 chip, the same processor found in the base model of the iPhone 16. It also features a 6.1-inch display, ensuring users get a premium screen experience without paying the full price of higher-end models. Additionally, the device boasts a 48-megapixel camera system capable of shooting 4K video at 60 frames per second, making it an appealing choice for photography and video enthusiasts.

One of the key highlights of the iPhone 16e is its integration of Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary artificial intelligence system, which was previously limited to the iPhone 15 and 16 series. This inclusion enhances the phone’s capabilities in areas such as smart suggestions, automation, and on-device learning.

Pricing and Storage Options

Apple has positioned the iPhone 16e as a cost-effective alternative within the iPhone 16 lineup. The base model, which comes with 128GB of storage, starts at $599—$200 less than the standard iPhone 16. Customers looking for additional storage can opt for the 256GB variant at $699 or the 512GB model at $899.

Breaking Apple’s Traditional Release Cycle

Historically, Apple has catered to budget-conscious consumers through its iPhone SE series, which featured smaller displays, Lightning charging ports, and lower-end processors. However, the iPhone 16e marks a shift in Apple’s strategy, as it arrives just five months after the initial iPhone 16 launch. This move deviates from Apple’s usual annual release cycle and could indicate a new approach to capturing a wider range of consumers.

Apple’s Market Performance and Sales Outlook

The launch of the iPhone 16e comes at a time when Apple faces challenges in key markets. In the most recent quarter, Apple reported $69.1 billion in iPhone sales, falling short of Wall Street’s expectations by nearly $2 billion. The company also struggled in China, where sales were $2.4 billion below projections, totaling $18.5 billion. Despite these setbacks, Apple still managed to achieve a 4% year-over-year increase in overall sales and a 10% rise in net profits.

By introducing the iPhone 16e, Apple is likely aiming to appeal to a broader customer base, including those who want premium features at a more accessible price. With its competitive pricing and high-end capabilities, the iPhone 16e could help Apple maintain its strong presence in the smartphone market while addressing affordability concerns among consumers.

Trump’s Approval Rating Declines Amid Economic Concerns

U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dipped slightly as more Americans express concerns about the economy, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The survey found that 44% of respondents approve of Trump’s job performance, down from 45% in late January. Meanwhile, disapproval has risen to 51%, compared to 41% shortly after he took office.

Economic Anxiety on the Rise

A key factor in the shift is growing unease about the U.S. economy. The percentage of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong economic track climbed from 43% to 53% in just over a week. Trump’s approval rating for economic management has also declined, dropping from 43% to 39%.

Despite this dip, his economic approval remains higher than former President Joe Biden’s final rating of 34%. However, it is significantly lower than the 53% approval Trump received in February 2017, during his first month in office.

Concerns Over Inflation and Tariffs

Economic uncertainty has been fueled by rising inflation and Trump’s trade policies. A recent U.S. Labor Department report showed the biggest increase in consumer prices in nearly 18 months, with many Americans facing higher costs for everyday goods and services.

Adding to concerns, Trump announced steep tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada, set to take effect in March. Though the Mexico and Canada tariffs have been delayed, the planned March 12 tariffs on steel and aluminum imports remain on schedule. These policies have sparked divided opinions, with 54% of Americans opposing new tariffs on imported goods, 41% in favor of increased tariffs, and support for tariffs on Chinese goods slightly higher at 49% in favor and 47% opposed.

Mixed Approval on Key Policies

While his economic rating has declined, Trump continues to see stronger support for his immigration policies, with 47% approval—unchanged from earlier polls. His approach includes promises to ramp up deportations of undocumented immigrants.

However, inflation remains a major challenge, with only 32% of respondents approving of his handling of the issue. This could be an early sign of public dissatisfaction with his economic policies, particularly after several years of rising prices weakened Biden’s standing ahead of the last election.

Poll Details

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online with 4,145 U.S. adults nationwide and has a margin of error of about 2 percentage points. The results highlight growing public concerns about Trump’s economic leadership as he faces increasing scrutiny over inflation, tariffs, and the future of U.S. trade policy.
