Emmy 2026 Nominations: The Pitt and Hacks Lead This Year’s Race

The Emmy 2026 nominations were announced Wednesday, July 8, setting up a competitive year across drama, comedy and limited series. “The Pitt” led all programs with 25 nominations, while “Hacks” topped the comedy field with 24.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Mariska Hargitay is scheduled to host the ceremony from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Emmy 2026 Nominations Led By The Pitt

“The Pitt” enters the 2026 Emmys as the most nominated program of the year. The HBO Max medical drama earned 25 nominations after a strong second season.

The series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. Noah Wyle also returned to the Lead Actor in a Drama category.

The drama series nominees are “The Diplomat,” “The Gilded Age,” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “Paradise,” “The Pitt,” “Pluribus,” “Slow Horses” and “Your Friends and Neighbors.”

Lead Actress in a Drama includes Carrie Coon for “The Gilded Age,” Chase Infiniti for “The Testaments,” Keri Russell for “The Diplomat,” Rhea Seehorn for “Pluribus” and Zendaya for “Euphoria.”

Lead Actor in a Drama includes Sterling K. Brown, Gary Oldman, Mark Ruffalo, Rufus Sewell and Noah Wyle.

Hacks Leads Comedy Field

“Hacks” continued its Emmy strength with 24 nominations for its fifth and final season. Jean Smart earned another Lead Actress in a Comedy nomination for her role in the series.

The Outstanding Comedy Series nominees are “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Hacks,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” “Nobody Wants This,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Shrinking” and “Widow’s Bay.”

The Lead Actress in a Comedy category includes Quinta Brunson, Ayo Edebiri, Elle Fanning, Lisa Kudrow and Jean Smart.

Lead Actor in a Comedy includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II for “Wonder Man,” Steve Carell for “Rooster,” Matthew Rhys for “Widow’s Bay,” Jason Segel for “Shrinking” and Martin Short for “Only Murders in the Building.”

Apple TV+ also had a strong showing. “Widow’s Bay” earned 19 nominations, while “Pluribus” received 18.

Limited Series And Reality Nominees

Netflix’s “Beef” led the limited or anthology categories with 16 nominations. The Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series nominees are “All Her Fault,” “The Beast in Me,” “Beef,” “DTF St. Louis” and “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.”

Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie includes Claire Danes, Sally Field, Carey Mulligan, Sarah Pidgeon and Sarah Snook.

Lead Actor in the same category includes Riz Ahmed, Jason Bateman, Charlie Hunnam, Oscar Isaac and Matthew Rhys.

In reality competition, the nominees are “Dancing With the Stars,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” “Survivor,” “Top Chef” and “The Traitors.”

What Comes Next

Final Emmy voting will run from Aug. 17 through Aug. 26. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place Sept. 5 and Sept. 6.

This year’s nominations show a wide mix of returning favorites and newer shows. Viewers will see whether longtime Emmy names hold their ground or fresh contenders take the spotlight in September.
