Start the Weekend With Shakespeare

The Alley Theatre begins preview performances of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on Friday at 8 p.m. Additional previews are scheduled Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Directed by Rob Melrose, the production presents the classic story of two young people divided by a family conflict. The performance runs approximately two hours and 45 minutes, including intermission.

The play contains mature situations, violence, suicide and flashing lights. Tickets are available through the Alley Theatre.

Celebrate Mexican Culture at Discovery Green

México en el Corazón takes over Discovery Green on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The touring production features more than 70 performers, including mariachis and ballet folklórico dancers.

The program highlights regional costumes, Indigenous traditions, music and dance from across Mexico. A special Flea by Night market will also feature Latin food, local artists and small businesses from 6 to 10 p.m.

Seating near the stage is limited to the first 1,700 guests. Wristband distribution begins at 5:30 p.m., and an RSVP does not guarantee access to that section. A large viewing screen will provide additional seating on Jones Lawn. Event details are available from Discovery Green.

See Chayanne or Cheer for the Dynamo

Latin pop star Chayanne brings his Bailemos Otra Vez Tour to Toyota Center on Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m.

The Puerto Rican performer’s show combines romantic ballads, dance numbers and hits from his extensive career. Tickets remain available through the Toyota Center.

Soccer fans can watch Houston Dynamo FC face Sporting Kansas City at Shell Energy Stadium. The match begins Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The club will also celebrate Noche de México. Fans can receive a luchador mask at the gate while supplies last, according to the Dynamo ticket listing.

Explore Food and Fall Attractions

Chefs for Farmers returns to Autry Park on Saturday and Sunday. The 21-and-older festival pairs Texas chefs with local farms for unlimited tastings, drinks and entertainment.

General admission runs from 2 to 5 p.m. each day, while VIP entry begins at 1 p.m. Single-day general admission starts at $145. Details and tickets are available from Chefs for Farmers.

Families can visit the Houston Pumpkin Festival at Discovery Green from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. throughout the weekend. Attractions include bumper boats, a carousel, a 30-foot slide, pumpkin displays and seasonal photo opportunities. Weekend admission costs $28, with rides included and food sold separately.

Close Sunday With Karol G

Karol G performs at Reliant Stadium on Sunday at 7 p.m. The Colombian star brings her Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour to Houston for one of the weekend’s largest concerts.

Tickets and parking can be purchased through Reliant Park. Attendees should review venue policies and allow extra travel time.
