Saudi Crown Prince Authorizes Potential Strike on Iran

Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has granted unprecedented authorization allowing the kingdom to strike back against Iran if necessary, according to regional media reports.

The move follows Iranian missile attacks targeting multiple Gulf nations amid escalating regional conflict. The crown prince reportedly described Iran’s actions as “cowardly,” arguing Saudi airspace was not used in operations against Tehran.

Trump Signals Support

Bin Salman also spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly expressed support for whatever defensive response Riyadh deems appropriate. The call comes as tensions intensify following U.S. strikes on Iranian leadership and military infrastructure.

Saudi officials say the kingdom will take “all necessary measures” to protect its sovereignty, citizens and residents.

Iran Expands Retaliatory Strikes

In response to U.S. and Israeli operations, Iran has launched a sweeping counteroffensive across the Middle East. Countries reportedly targeted include Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman.

Explosions have been reported in Doha for a second straight day, and for the first time in Oman. Dubai International Airport and Jebel Ali Port were also reportedly hit, with one fatality and multiple injuries confirmed in earlier strikes.

Missile and Drone Barrage

The UAE Ministry of Defense said Iran launched 137 ballistic missiles toward the Emirates, with 132 intercepted and five landing in the Persian Gulf. Officials also reported 209 suicide drones were deployed, most of which were intercepted, though several penetrated defenses.

Iran claims it has targeted 27 U.S. bases across the region, describing the campaign as the “most intense offensive operation in history.”

With Gulf leaders coordinating responses and Washington backing Riyadh, the rapidly expanding confrontation threatens broader regional escalation.
