Power outages throughout Harris County as isolated thunderstorms continue to pop up in SE Texas

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Many Harris County residents are without power on Friday evening as thunderstorms move across Southeast Texas.

Strong, isolated storms are continuing to pop up in the coastal counties, and they could build new thunderstorms in the Houston area throughout the afternoon and into the evening. This could impact after-school activities, football games, and the evening commute.

Any storm that develops could produce briefly heavy rainfall, lightning, and wind gusts over 50 mph.

If I missed out on Thursday’s rain, is there any more in the forecast?

Yes! The boundary blowing toward us will still be nearby Friday, bringing another round of rain to the region. Since the moisture levels will be highest south of I-10, the best chance for that rain will also be south of I-10. Your chance of getting rain is at 30%. Minor rain chances will continue at 20% for Saturday but only 10% for Sunday, then rain chances will climb up again for the first few days of September as tropical moisture moves this way.
