Houston Mayor John Whitmire is partnering with Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash to provide 10,000 free Houston Dynamo and Dash tickets to first-time attendees. The initiative will help families experience professional soccer in Houston after this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The complimentary tickets will be available for select matches during the second half of the 2026 regular season. A dedicated portion will go to children in local youth and community programs.

Free Houston Dynamo and Dash Tickets Aim to Build on World Cup Excitement

The announcement came Thursday, July 23, during a news conference with Mayor John Whitmire and team leaders. City officials said the program aims to turn Houston’s FIFA World Cup energy into long-term support for local soccer.

Houston hosted global soccer fans this summer as part of the FIFA World Cup. Now, the city and its hometown clubs want more residents to experience the sport live.

The tickets will give first-time fans a chance to attend matches at Shell Energy Stadium. The stadium is home to both Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash.

Mayor Whitmire said the effort is about access, community and keeping the excitement alive.

“We know from being in the community that there are young people and families who might never be able to experience a professional soccer game,” Whitmire said. “They saw it on TV during the FIFA World Cup, but how do we continue that excitement?”

How Fans Can Claim Tickets

Tickets will be distributed through community organizations, nonprofit partners, youth programs and directly to Houstonians who have never attended a Dynamo or Dash match.

Fans can claim available tickets online. Match options and ticket locations will vary based on availability.

The teams said claimed tickets cannot be resold. That rule helps keep the program focused on first-time fans and families.

The ticket distribution begins immediately and will continue through the remainder of the 2026 regular season.

Youth Programs and Families Are a Key Focus

A special allocation of tickets will support children involved in local youth and community programs. The goal is to introduce more young people to professional soccer in their own city.

City and team leaders said the program reflects a shared commitment to making soccer more welcoming and accessible.

Jessica O’Neill, President of Business Operations for Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash, said the World Cup can help inspire a new generation of fans.

“One of the greatest legacies the World Cup can leave behind is a new generation of soccer fans,” O’Neill said.

She also thanked Mayor Whitmire for helping expand access to live matches.

“There is nothing like experiencing a match at Shell Energy Stadium for the first time,” O’Neill said. “Thanks to this initiative, 10,000 people will have the opportunity to discover what makes Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash soccer so special.”

Houston Continues to Grow as a Soccer City

The initiative adds to Houston’s growing identity as a major soccer city in North America. Local leaders said the World Cup’s impact should continue beyond the tournament itself.

For many families, the program could offer a first chance to see professional soccer in person. It also gives new fans a direct connection to Houston’s local clubs.

The City of Houston, Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash said they want the sport to remain visible, affordable and community-centered.
