Bethesda Game Studios shared a major update on its future plans, giving fans new details on Fallout, The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield. The Bethesda Fallout announcement confirms several long-awaited projects, though most still do not have release dates.
Bethesda Fallout Announcement Includes Remasters
The biggest news centers on Fallout. Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 5 is in pre-production and remains part of the studio’s long-term plans.
The studio also said remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development. Bethesda did not announce release windows for either project.
The Fallout: New Vegas news is especially notable because the original game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Bethesda also confirmed it is working with Obsidian on a new Fallout project.
That update gives longtime fans a clearer look at the franchise’s future. However, Bethesda kept many details limited. No platforms, dates or story information were announced for the remasters or the new Obsidian project.
Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter Also Get Updates
Bethesda also outlined plans for Fallout 76. The online game is set to receive a major 2027 expansion called Raven Rock.
The expansion will serve as a prequel story to Fallout 3. That setting connects the live-service game more closely to one of the franchise’s most recognized entries.
Fallout Shelter will also continue with new seasons. Bethesda also referenced Amazon’s unscripted television project tied to the mobile game.
The studio said there will not be a Fallout Day broadcast this year. Instead, Bethesda plans to mark Fallout’s 30th anniversary in 2027 with a live celebration in Washington, D.C.
Elder Scrolls VI Remains Bethesda’s Main Focus
Bethesda also gave an update on The Elder Scrolls VI. The studio said the game is now its primary development focus.
The company said most of its team is working on the next chapter of the fantasy role-playing series. The game still does not have a release date.
Bethesda also said The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 will use Creation Engine 3. That engine is the studio’s next major technology platform.
ZeniMax Online Studios, the team behind The Elder Scrolls Online, will work more closely with Bethesda on the broader Elder Scrolls franchise. The company said the goal is to create stronger experiences across the series.
Starfield Remains Part of the Roadmap
Bethesda also confirmed that Starfield remains active. The studio said the game’s third year will bring new stories and gameplay improvements.
New Starborn content is planned for 2027. Bethesda did not share a full roadmap, but the update shows the studio has not moved away from its newest original franchise.
The announcement comes during a difficult period for the wider Xbox division. Recent restructuring and layoffs have affected several teams connected to Bethesda and ZeniMax.
Still, Bethesda’s update signals a strong focus on its biggest role-playing franchises. For players, the clearest takeaway is that Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and Starfield will remain central to the studio’s plans for years ahead.
