Authorities in Washington have found bones while searching for Travis Decker, a missing father accused of killing his three daughters earlier this summer. Investigators are now working to determine if the remains are human and whether they could belong to Decker, according to The Wenatchee World.
Sheriff Confirms Ongoing Analysis
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said the bones were discovered during a large-scale grid search involving more than 100 personnel. They were sent to Central Washington University’s anthropology department for confirmation.
Timeline of the Case
Decker, 33, vanished after picking up his daughters—Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 2—from their mother’s home in Wenatchee on May 30 for a scheduled visitation. When he failed to return them, their mother contacted police.
Days later, the girls were found dead at a campsite in Leavenworth, Wash., with plastic bags over their heads. The medical examiner ruled their deaths as asphyxiation.
Widespread Search Efforts
The search for Decker has involved multiple agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, and local law enforcement. If found, he faces three counts each of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
Possible Canada Connection
Investigators have said Decker may have fled to Canada, citing online searches he made before disappearing. Reported sightings of him have so far been unconfirmed.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A stalled front is bringing fall-like weather to most of the country, but we’re stuck in a warm, soupy pattern with daily chances for showers and storms through the holiday weekend.
Today rain chances will peak in the afternoon as temperatures heat up into the low 90s. Any shower or storm that pops up could bring heavy rainfall that drops a quick 1-3″ of rain, and that’s enough to cause brief, minor street flooding. I have the overall rain coverage today at 60%.
What’s in store for the rest of Labor Day weekend?
More scattered downpours to dodge each afternoon! Rain chances are at 70% Sunday and 60% Labor Day. Any heavy thunderstorm has the potential to create localized street flooding. It won’t be a complete washout anywhere, but be prepared for your outdoor plans to possibly be interrupted by some heavy rain and lightning. Remember, when thunder roars, head indoors! The bonus to all the rain clouds and rain-cooled air? High temperatures in the upper 80s!
Is any cooler air on the way?
We’ll have to settle for dry air midweek behind a front arriving Tuesday. The dry air will push lows down toward 70 with highs just above 90. Another front coming down the Plains from Canada looks to make a bigger push southward and could potentially drop our lows in the 60s for the first full weekend of September.
What is happening in the tropics?
A tropical wave expected to move off the coast of Africa has a low potential for development, and we are seeing signs activity will pick up across the Atlantic basin by mid September. For a thorough update and in-depth video on what’s happening in the tropics, head to our tropical update page.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has expanded its warning about potentially radioactive shrimp, adding more brands to the growing recall.
Products Impacted
Nearly 18,000 bags of Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off Shrimp and more than 26,000 packs of cocktail shrimp from Aquastar Corp. were recalled this week. Earlier alerts also included Walmart’s Great Value brand and shrimp sold by Southwind Foods.
The shrimp was processed by Indonesian supplier PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods), now under a full import alert.
Contamination Risk
The FDA says the products may have been exposed to Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope that can damage DNA and increase cancer risk with long-term exposure. No products in the U.S. have tested positive so far, and no illnesses have been reported.
Recall Details
The recalled shrimp was sold between late July and mid-August in more than 40 states under brands including Sand Bar, Arctic Shores, Best Yet, Great American, First Street, Kroger, and Walmart. Customers are urged not to eat the shrimp and to throw it away.

What to Do if You Purchased These Products
The FDA advises consumers not to eat the recalled shrimp. Packages should be discarded or returned to the store for a full refund.
Questions can be directed to Southwind Foods at 1-323-262-8222 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. PT).
Those concerned about exposure to Cesium-137 should contact their healthcare provider.
Why Cesium-137 Is Dangerous
Cesium-137 is a radioactive byproduct of nuclear reactors and weapons testing. Long-term exposure can cause radiation sickness, cancer, burns, or death. Federal agencies monitor food imports to prevent harmful levels from entering the U.S. food supply.

A federal appeals court has struck down most of President Donald Trump’s global tariffs, ruling that he exceeded his authority under federal law.
Court’s Decision
In a 7-4 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said Trump’s tariffs were “invalid as contrary to law.” Judges found that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which Trump used to justify the tariffs, does not authorize a president to impose them. The decision echoed a lower court’s earlier ruling that only Congress can regulate trade.
What Happens Next
The court delayed enforcement of its ruling until October 14, allowing the Trump administration time to appeal to the Supreme Court. Until then, the tariffs remain in place. The case now sets up a high-stakes legal battle over the limits of presidential power on trade policy.
Legal Challenge
Small businesses and several states had sued earlier this year, arguing Trump overstepped his authority when he issued sweeping tariffs in April. Judges noted that IEEPA never mentions tariffs, and no president has attempted to use the law in this way before.
A viral TikTok video captured the touching moment a stray dog picked her forever family by walking straight up to their door.
The Unexpected Visit
Shared by user @vii.madison7, the door-cam footage shows the dog wandering a busy neighborhood before stopping at her home. When the owner stepped outside with her other dog, the pups greeted each other with wagging tails, quickly bonding.
Overlay text on the video read: “Late night finds, but it’s when God sent me an angel when he knew we needed each other the most.” The caption added, “Out of all the houses you could have chosen, you walked up to mine. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
In the comments, the poster revealed the dog’s name is Harley, who had survived dehydration, starvation, and skin issues before finding her new home. “She’s the best dog anyone can ask for. From being dumped to finding forever home, God led her in the right path,” she wrote.
Internet Reaction
The heartwarming clip has drawn more than 760,000 views and 118,000 likes. Commenters celebrated the bond, with one writing: “What’s meant for you will not pass you by!” Another added: “She was looking for you… and you didn’t hesitate for one second.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris will lose her Secret Service protection after President Donald Trump revoked the security detail, a White House official confirmed.
Security Cut Short
Vice presidents normally receive protection for six months after leaving office. President Joe Biden had extended Harris’ coverage to a full year, but Trump signed an order on Aug. 28 to end it effective Sept. 1.
Harris Responds
Kirsten Allen, an adviser to Harris, said in a statement: “The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.” Harris is preparing for a 15-city book tour.
Pattern of Revocations
Harris, Trump’s Democratic opponent in the 2024 election, is not the first to have her protection canceled by him. Trump has also removed Secret Service details for other critics, including former national security adviser John Bolton and Hunter Biden.
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Your chance of getting rain is going up starting late Friday with even higher chances over the holiday weekend as a slow-moving front works with high moisture levels that now look to linger into Labor Day.
It will be a warm and mostly rain-free start to Friday. Temperatures will warm from near 80 toward 100 degrees on a hot southwesterly wind before the showers and storms develop. Those storms will first pop up near Huntsville and Lake Livingston during the afternoon and slide toward Houston and the I-10 corridor between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. These storms could be strong with gusty winds over 40 mph, heavy rain, and lightning that could delay Friday night football games.
How are things looking for Labor Day weekend?
That slow-moving cool front will give us a high chance for showers and storms Saturday (70%) and Sunday (60%), but it won’t be a complete washout. Most of Saturday’s storms will occur in the afternoon and evening, but the rain could start earlier in the day Sunday, which may keep highs in the 80s. Because the front is now predicted to move through slower than originally expected, moisture levels will remain high enough on Labor Day for a 30% chance of additional showers.
Is any cooler air on the way?
It just may happen late next week! Another front coming down the Plains from Canada looks to make a bigger push southward and could potentially drop our lows in the 60s for the first full weekend of September.

The family of Tammy and Amy Slaton is grieving the loss of their cousin, Katie Slaton, who died on Aug. 25 at the age of 37 after a battle with stage 4 cancer.
Family Tribute
Amanda Halterman, sister of Tammy and Amy, shared the news on Instagram the following day.
“It is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday,” Amanda wrote. She described Katie as “the life of the party and my best friend,” asking followers to keep the family, especially Katie’s children, in their prayers.
Tammy’s Earlier Plea
Back in January, Tammy Slaton posted a GoFundMe link, asking fans to support Katie through her cancer journey.
“Even if it’s a dollar it would help my cousin out so much,” Tammy wrote. Katie appeared briefly in “1000-Lb. Sisters,” including season 5 when Tammy was released from rehab.
Katie’s Battle With Cancer
Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare stomach cancer, earlier this year. She underwent chemotherapy but ultimately passed away at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.
