The track, which was produced by Di Genius, was written by Becky alongside Di Genius, Elena Rose, Edgar Barrera, Fresh, Maurice “Verse” Simmonds, Janée “Jin Jin” Bennett and Jenni Rivera.  Inspired by Jenni Rivera’s “La Gran Señora”, the song is a fun and flirty expression of female empowerment as it takes on the narrative of staying with your man through ups and downs, thick and thin. Becky G says, “I always loved the perspective Jenni Rivera sang from on ‘La Gran Señora’ and thought that it was so different. Tropical Storm Fay is the sixth named storm of 2020, but poses no threat to Texas. The storm is currently in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of North Carolina. It will move further inland before beginning to dissipate over the weekend.

What you should do:
While Tropical Storm Fay will not impact Texas, we have not reached the peak of Hurricane Season. All residents should GET A KIT, MAKE A PLAN and STAY INFORMED on tropical weather.

METRO Bus Operators, Light Rail Operators Among Latest COVID-19 Cases
METRO has received confirmation three bus operators, two light rail operators, an office assistant, cleaner, mechanic and two storeroom attendants have tested positive for COVID-19.  This brings the total number of cases to 96 METRO employees and 23 contractors. Forty-four of the employees had no contact with the public. METRO tracks and reports all positive cases among its workforce of more than 4200. We are also conducting temperature checks of employees before they begin their workday. The first bus operator last worked June 29 and in the two weeks prior, drove the following routes:Fallbrook 6-29The second bus operator last worked June 23 and in the two weeks prior, drove the following routes:west 6-23The third bus operator last worked June 27 and in the two weeks prior, drove the following routes:fallbrook 6-27The first light rail operator worked at a METRO facility two weeks prior to that employee’s last day, July 6, and had no contact with the public.The second light rail operator last worked June 30 and in the two weeks prior, operated the Red Line on these dates:Red Line 6-30*The charts above reflect the days the operators were on duty two weeks prior to their last days on the job.The office assistant last worked June 30; the cleaner last worked June 26; the mechanic last worked June 26; one storeroom attendant last worked June 30; and the other storeroom attendant last worked June 27.  None of these employees had contact with the public.Anyone who comes in contact with an individual who tests positive should monitor themselves for possible symptoms, contact your health care provider as soon as you develop any symptoms, and self-isolate to avoid possibly exposing others, including refraining from using public transportation.METRO is working with public health officials so they can identify and notify anyone who traveled the routes driven by the bus operators during those time frames as well as anyone else who may have been impacted by the latest positive cases.Since mid-March, METRO has sought to minimize the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission by operators or passengers by encouraging social distancing.  On March 23, the agency temporarily suspended collecting fares to avoid unnecessary contacts.  Shortly thereafter, orange mesh fencing was installed across the aisles of every local bus to assure appropriate distancing between operators and passengers.More safety upgrades are also being added to ​buses, trains and METROLift vehicles. Operators and riders will now have access to hand sanitizer while on board and protective shields around drivers’ seats will provide another layer of separation between operators and the public.  Operators and riders are required to wear a face covering while on the system.We appreciate and greatly value our riders. We have taken many actions, including working with the community at large, to “flatten the curve” of COVID-19. To prevent or minimize its transmission on the transit system, METRO asks all riders to use the system only for essential trips at this time,  practice social distancing when you do ride transit (i.e., stand or sit at least 6 feet apart, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, wash your hands for 20 seconds before boarding transit and after deboarding, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, or cough or sneeze into your elbow, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, and stay home if you are sick). Additionally, riders should board buses only from the back door, and stand or sit no closer than six feet behind the driver. METRO’s number one priority is protecting the health and safety of our customers, community and employees.

Service Update for Week of July 12

Fare collection

METRO will resume collecting fares for all services beginning Sunday, July 12, 2020. At that time, riders will be required to board buses through the front doors and the rear doors will only be used for exiting. For answers to common questions about fares (including fare costs, payment methods, where to buy fares and more), please visit our fare collection page.

Along with using public transit for only essential trips, customers are reminded seating capacity on all METRO vehicles remains reduced to encourage social distancing.

Mask Up to Ride 
Customers are reminded to mask up to ride METRO. The Authority requires all riders, employees, contractors and visitors wear a face covering unless impracticable due to a medical condition. 

The health and safety rule is consistent with state and county orders mandating that everyone over the age of 10 wear a face covering while in businesses or on commercial properties.

Protective Upgrades
Several protective upgrades have been added to ​buses, trains and METROLift vehicles. Operators and riders have access to hand sanitizer while on board and protective shields around drivers’ seats will now provide another layer of separation between operators and riders.
METRO continues to follow more frequent cleaning schedules. ​In addition to daily cleaning, buses and trains are ​also cleaned ​midday.

METRO RideStore Reminders

  • The RideStore and Lost and Found office at the Downtown Transit Center, 1900 Main Street is now open Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Customers will be required to use a designated entrance, wear a mask and undergo a temperature check before entering the RideStore.
  • The main lobby will remain closed to the public.
  • Fare cards can be purchased and reloaded at machines located on rail platforms and buses, and at  local retailers, and online.
  • METRO RideStores at Fannin South and 1001 Travis Street remain closed.

Schedule updates for the Week of July 12, 2020 are below

Park & Ride – Downtown Destinations

  • Service will operate from 5 – 9 a.m. for inbound trips and from 3 – 7 p.m. for outbound trips. 
  • Buses are scheduled to pick up passengers approximately every 15 minutes.
  • 236 Maxey/ Baytown will now operate its regular weekday schedule.
  • Additional service has been added on the 209 North Freeway and 259 Eastex Freeway routes.
  • There will be no midday or late night service.
  • Customers should allow extra time for travel as the buses may make more stops than usual.  

Park & Ride – TMC Destinations

  • Routes serving the Texas Medical Center will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
  • 291 Conroe Park & Ride will only run 6:30 a.m. inbound and 4:30 p.m. outbound trips.

Local Bus

  • Local bus routes will continue to run on a modified Saturday Schedule seven days a week.
  • Service has resumed on the 151 Westpark Express.
  • Route designations can be found on bus stop signs and on this METRO local bus route color chart.
  • Extra buses have been added on routes with high demand to allow riders to spread out on vehicles.

METRORail

  • Red Line: operating every six minutes on weekdays, and every 12 minutes on weekends.
  • Purple & Green Lines: operating every 18 minutes.

METROLift

  • Seating capacity on METROLift vehicles is reduced by 50 percent to encourage social distancing which may lead to delays.

HOV/HOT Lanes

  • Service on all METRO operated HOV/ HOT lanes is operating during regular hours.
  • During non-peak hours, single-occupant vehicles can access the HOV / HOT lanes for a toll.

Houston Health Department Launches Emergency Coronavirus Outreach Program For Hispanics

HOUSTON — As COVID-19 cases surge across Houston, Hispanics are affected in disproportionately higher numbers. The Houston Health Department is launching a 21-Day Emergency Outreach program, “Better Together” (Todos Juntos. Mejor), to curb the ravages of the disease in this vulnerable population.

The program educates Hispanics about the combination of behaviors proven effective in preventing the spread of the virus, and helpful resources to locate and use free testing sites throughout the city.  It also shares valuable information for families requiring assistance with food, housing and mental health issues.

“The Latino community makes up 42 percent of the Houston cases in which our epidemiologists were able to verify race and ethnicity,” said Porfirio Villarreal, public information officer at the health department. “Our goal with ‘Better Together’ is to provide easy access to potentially life-saving information with a click, visit or call.”

Race and ethnicity information currently is unavailable on approximately 40 percent of the more than 21,000 COVID-19 cases reported to the department since the start of the pandemic.
The  health department  publishes weekly online updates with the locations of free testing sites at houstonemergency.org/covid-19/testing/. 

One of the biggest hurdles the health department faces is getting real, factual information into the hands of the people who need it the most. “There is so much misinformation circulated,” Villarreal said. “We want to reassure everyone that any person possibly exposed to COVID-19 or experiencing symptoms can get a free test without having health insurance, and absolutely no one is asked about immigration status.” 

Spanish-speaking health department employees are also equipped to provide information on contact tracing procedures, food distribution sites, financial and housing assistance, and domestic issues.

“Everyone must do their part to slow the spread of this disease. We owe it to ourselves, our families, our friends, and our communities,” Villarreal said. “The quicker we get COVID-19 infections under control, the quicker we can get our businesses, churches and schools open again. If we work quickly and work together, we will be ‘Better Together.’”

(Houston, TX) – The Harris County Clerk’s Office reminds citizens that Early Voting ends tomorrow, Friday, July 10. On the last day of Early Voting, all 57 voting centers throughout Harris County will remain open until 10 pm to allow voters with family and work obligations to cast their ballots and have their voices heard. You can visit HarrisVotes.com/WaitTimes to find the nearest voting center in your area and view wait times.
“I encourage all voters to take advantage of the last day of early in-person voting and extended hours as the safest way to cast your vote in person ahead of Election Day,” said Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins. “You can avoid long lines by using our Wait Time Tool on HarrisVotes.com and print your personal sample ballot that you can bring with you to the polls. We’ve taken every safety precaution to keep you safe while voting. If you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, we encourage you to vote curbside and avoid entering a voting center.” Remember, if you voted in the March 3 Primary Election, you can only vote in that same party’s runoff
election. If you did not participate in the March Primary, you are able to vote in either primary runoff election. Winners in the primary runoff elections will move on to the General Election in November.
For the safety of all voters and poll workers, all voting centers have been set up to allow for social distancing. Poll workers have been provided with personal protective equipment including gloves, face masks, and shields. Sanitizing stations are set up at all polling sites, and voters are being
provided with finger covers to use while voting. Additional face masks are available for voters who do not have one.
As of July 8, 113,751 voters have cast their ballots. Daily unofficial results are posted on HarrisVotes.com. On July 14th, unofficial results will be posted as they come in after the polls close on Election Night.

HOUSTON, Texas – Debido a cambios en las circunstancias con respecto al COVID-19, y para resguardar la salud y seguridad del público y del personal de las cortes contra del contagio de COVID-19, el Departamento de las Cortes Municipales de la Ciudad de Houston ha extendido la suspensión de TODOS LOS JUICIOS POR JURADO hasta el 31 de agosto, 2020 conforme a la orden de la Corte Suprema de Texas. Las cortes permanecen abiertas para todos los demás procedimientos.

El público debe contactar con su proveedor de servicios médicos y no acudir a la corte si está experimentando síntomas como las de COVID-19. Si su juicio por jurado fue programado entre el 1 de junio de 2020 y el 31 de agosto de 2020, los aplazamientos se otorgarán en persona en todas las ubicaciones de Las Cortes Municipales de la Ciudad de Houston empezando miércoles el día 1 de julio, 2020 hasta viernes el día 4 de septiembre, 2020 a las 5 p.m. Favor de visitar el sitio web de las Cortes Municipales en www.houstontx.gov/courts para recibir información sobre todas las ubicaciones de las cortes y sus horas de operación. Es importante entender que si un individuo no logra aplazar su caso una vez que las cortes reanuden sus funciones, una orden para su arresto puede ser emitida.

Hasta el 31 de Agosto de 2020 no habra: 

  • JUICIOS POR JURADO.  Si usted es un ACUSADO programado para juicio por jurado durante este período, no tiene que comparecer. Tiene que solicitar una nueva cita en persona antes de viernes, 4 de septiembre de 2020 a las 5:00 p.m., para recibir una cita nueva.  Los juicios por jurado comenzarán de nuevo el martes, 1 de septiembre de 2020 si no se les notifica al contrario.  Es importante notar que si un individuo no cambia la cita de su(s) caso(s) durante el período de cambios que dura hasta el 4 de septiembre de 2020, se podrá emitir una orden de arresto.
  • SERVICIO DE JURADO.  El servicio de jurado se reanudará el martes, 1 de septiembre, 2020 a menos que se le notifique al contrario.
