ROSENBERG, Texas (KTRK) — Drivers in Rosenberg could experience some major traffic backups on Wednesday morning following a 23-car train derailment, according to the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office.
According to officials, the derailment happened along Highway 90 near OakBend Hospital, within the city limits of Richmond and Rosenberg.
In a Facebook post, Richmond PD said the train derailed in Rosenberg and caused several train cars to leave the tracks.
Police said all the crossings in the city of Richmond are blocked and are asking drivers to be patient with traffic this morning.
“Richmond officers are directing traffic at the emergency underpass at 2nd Street in both directions. Please plan accordingly,” Richmond PD said.
As crews work to clear the area, drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
