Houston Texans Fall 27-7 to Los Angeles Chargers in Preseason Opener

0

The Houston Texans opened their 2026 preseason with a 27-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. Houston scored its only touchdown in the first quarter before Los Angeles recorded 24 unanswered points at Reliant Stadium.

Although preseason results do not affect regular-season standings, the Houston Texans preseason game gave coaches an early look at players competing for roster positions.

Davis Mills Leads Houston’s Only Touchdown Drive

Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker opened the scoring with a 34-yard field goal. However, Houston responded with its strongest offensive drive of the game.

Quarterback Davis Mills connected with wide receiver Jared Wayne for a 5-yard touchdown. Chris Freeman made the extra point, giving Houston a 7-3 lead.

Mills completed 9 of 15 passes for 82 yards and one touchdown. He did not throw an interception, but the Chargers sacked him twice. Mills also lost a fumble during the game.

After the touchdown, Houston struggled to extend drives. The Texans failed to score during the final three quarters.

Chargers Take the Lead Before Halftime

Meanwhile, Los Angeles moved ahead during the second quarter. Running back Amar Johnson scored on a 7-yard run, and Dicker added the extra point.

Consequently, the Chargers entered halftime with a 10-7 advantage.

Houston remained within one possession throughout the third quarter. However, Dicker increased the Chargers’ lead with a 48-yard field goal.

The Texans entered the fourth quarter trailing 13-7. Therefore, one touchdown could have returned the lead to Houston.

Los Angeles Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter

Instead, the Chargers controlled the final period and scored two touchdowns. Those 14 points increased their lead to 27-7 and ended Houston’s opportunity for a comeback.

Johnson finished with two touchdowns and 85 total yards for Los Angeles. His performance helped the Chargers maintain their lead after halftime.

Overall, Los Angeles scored in every quarter. Houston, in comparison, produced points only during the opening period.

The Texans also struggled with pass protection and ball security. In addition, the offense could not create enough sustained possessions to support the defense.

Preseason Focus Shifts to Player Evaluation

Despite the loss, the preseason gives Houston’s coaching staff time to review individual performances and correct mistakes.

Coaches will evaluate how players handled assignments, communication and situational football. Furthermore, the remaining games will help determine the final roster and depth chart.

The opener also gave players outside Houston’s established starting lineup an opportunity to compete in live action. Those evaluations will continue during practices and the final two preseason games.

Because teams often limit veteran starters during the preseason, the final score does not provide a complete forecast for the regular season. Nevertheless, Houston will look for better offensive consistency in its next game.

Texans Will Host Raiders Next

The Texans will host the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, Aug. 20. Kickoff will take place at 7 p.m. at Reliant Stadium, and ESPN will televise the game.

Afterward, Houston will finish the preseason at the Carolina Panthers on Friday, Aug. 28. That game begins at 6 p.m.

The Texans will open the regular season at home against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 13. Therefore, Houston still has several weeks to address problems before the games begin to count.

“The End of Oak Street,” “PAW Patrol” and “The Brink of War” Lead This Weekend’s Movie Releases

Moviegoers can choose from science fiction, family animation, historical drama and a Southern crime story beginning Friday, Aug. 14. The new movies in theaters this weekend include four releases aimed at different audiences.

However, showtimes and formats will vary across Houston-area theaters. Moviegoers should check local listings before purchasing tickets.

“The End of Oak Street”

First, Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The End of Oak Street.” The PG-13 science-fiction thriller opens in conventional theaters and IMAX.

A mysterious cosmic event removes Oak Street from its suburban neighborhood. Consequently, the Platt family finds itself in an unfamiliar and dangerous environment.

The family must work together as it searches for answers and a path home. Meanwhile, the movie combines a domestic survival story with supernatural mystery and large-scale adventure.

David Robert Mitchell wrote and directed the film. He previously directed “It Follows” and “Under the Silver Lake.” In addition, J.J. Abrams serves as a producer.

Maisy Stella and Christian Convery also star. Overall, the movie offers the weekend’s biggest option for science-fiction and thriller fans.

More information appears on the official movie website.

“PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie”

For families, “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” brings the rescue pups back to theaters. Paramount Pictures rated the animated adventure PG.

The story begins when a storm forces the team’s ship onto an uncharted tropical island. There, the pups discover dinosaurs and meet Rex, a canine dinosaur expert.

However, Mayor Humdinger soon threatens the island while searching for natural resources. His actions awaken a dormant volcano and place the island’s inhabitants in danger.

As a result, the PAW Patrol team launches a series of dinosaur-sized rescues. Mckenna Grace, Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews and Fortune Feimster contribute to the voice cast.

Because the movie combines familiar characters with dinosaurs, it may appeal most to young children and longtime franchise fans. Families can find tickets through the Paramount Pictures website.

“The Brink of War”

Meanwhile, “The Brink of War” focuses on a critical moment during the Cold War. The 84-minute historical thriller carries a PG rating.

Jeff Daniels portrays President Ronald Reagan. Jared Harris plays Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, while J.K. Simmons portrays U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz.

The story follows Reagan as he tries to reach a nuclear arms agreement with Gorbachev. At the same time, advisers and intelligence officials pressure both leaders during the negotiations.

The drama draws inspiration from the 1986 summit in Reykjavik, Iceland. Therefore, it offers a more serious choice for viewers interested in politics and modern history.

Michael Russell Gunn wrote and directed the movie. Angel Studios provides tickets and additional details on the film’s official page.

“The Rivals of Amziah King”

Finally, Matthew McConaughey returns to theaters in “The Rivals of Amziah King.” Black Bear will initially release the R-rated film in select theaters before expanding it more widely.

McConaughey plays Amziah King, an Oklahoma beekeeper and bluegrass musician. His honey business faces threats from competitors operating in a difficult rural industry.

At the center of the story, Amziah develops a close relationship with a young woman from his past. Meanwhile, the film blends crime, family drama, music and moments of sudden violence.

Andrew Patterson wrote and directed the movie. He previously made the acclaimed science-fiction film “The Vast of Night.”

Because the initial release may not reach every Houston theater, interested viewers should review listings carefully.

Altogether, this weekend’s releases offer several distinct choices. Families can join a dinosaur rescue, while older audiences can explore cosmic danger, Cold War diplomacy or a rural crime story.

Because weekend dining times can fill quickly, organizers recommend reservations. Diners can explore menus and locations on the Houston Restaurant Weeks website.

Overall, Houston residents have several ways to enjoy the city this weekend. At the same time, many of these activities support local artists, restaurants, venues and community organizations.

Tim Cook Unveils Apple’s 250,000-Square-Foot Houston Factory

0

Apple CEO Tim Cook formally showcased the company’s 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Houston on Thursday. The Apple Houston factory produces advanced servers that support Apple Intelligence and the company’s cloud-based artificial intelligence services.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick joined Cook for the Houston event. The visit highlighted Apple’s growing manufacturing presence in Texas and its broader investment in domestic production.

Apple Houston Factory Produces AI Servers

Workers at the facility assemble advanced servers, including logic boards produced on-site. Apple installs the equipment at data centers across the United States.

The servers support Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute. Apple developed Private Cloud Compute to process complex AI requests while protecting personal information.

Previously, Apple manufactured these servers outside the United States. The Houston operation brings part of that production closer to the company’s domestic data centers.

Apple initially planned to begin mass production at the factory in 2026. However, the company started shipping servers from Houston ahead of schedule in 2025.

Houston Operations Continue to Expand

The server factory represents one part of Apple’s expanding Houston campus. The company also plans to manufacture Mac mini computers at a new facility on the site.

Mac mini production is scheduled to begin later in 2026. It will mark the first time Apple has manufactured the compact desktop computer in the United States.

The additional factory will double Apple’s manufacturing footprint at the Houston site. Apple said its combined Houston operations will create thousands of jobs. However, the company has not released a detailed breakdown of positions or hiring dates.

Apple is also opening a 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston. The training facility will serve students, supplier employees and businesses of different sizes.

Apple specialists will provide instruction in modern manufacturing methods. Training will cover processes similar to those used across Apple’s supply chain.

Part of Apple’s $600 Billion U.S. Commitment

The Houston investment falls under Apple’s plan to spend $600 billion in the United States over four years. The company announced the expanded commitment and its American Manufacturing Program in 2025.

Apple said the program encourages suppliers to produce more components in the United States. The company works with thousands of suppliers across all 50 states.

Apple also plans to directly hire 20,000 U.S. workers during the investment period. Many of those jobs will involve research, software, silicon engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Texas already plays a major role in Apple’s domestic operations. The company reported having more than 13,000 employees across the state in 2025. Apple also operates a large corporate campus in Austin and works with Texas-based manufacturing suppliers.

A New Technology Manufacturing Hub for Houston

The Apple Houston factory strengthens the region’s position beyond its established energy, medical and aerospace industries. It adds advanced electronics and AI infrastructure to Houston’s growing technology sector.

The project could also create opportunities for local workers, students and suppliers seeking experience in advanced manufacturing. Residents can follow Apple’s careers website and local workforce programs for future hiring and training announcements.

Luigi Mangione Pleads Guilty in Federal Case, Admits Shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

0

Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty Friday to two federal stalking charges tied to the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. During the Aug. 14 hearing, Mangione admitted shooting Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel in December 2024.

The Luigi Mangione guilty plea resolves the federal prosecution but leaves major legal questions unanswered. Mangione still faces a separate New York state murder case.

Luigi Mangione Guilty Plea Includes Admission

Mangione, 28, entered the guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Margaret M. Garnett in Manhattan federal court. He admitted following Thompson and gathering information about a UnitedHealth Group investor conference.

Mangione told the court that he contacted UnitedHealthcare while pretending to represent a large investment firm. He said he used the request to confirm details about the conference.

Mangione then acknowledged shooting Thompson in Manhattan on Dec. 4, 2024. He also admitted knowing that his actions were illegal.

Thompson, 50, was walking toward UnitedHealth Group’s annual investor conference when he was shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown.

Federal Charges Carry Possible Life Sentence

Mangione pleaded guilty to interstate stalking resulting in death and stalking through interstate facilities resulting in death. Each charge carries a possible life sentence.

Judge Garnett scheduled his sentencing for Dec. 18. Mangione confirmed that he understood he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

The federal case originally included murder and firearm charges. Those charges could have allowed prosecutors to seek the death penalty.

However, Garnett dismissed them in January 2026. She ruled that the stalking offenses did not meet the required federal definition of a crime of violence. Federal prosecutors later declined to appeal that decision.

The two remaining stalking charges still allowed a potential sentence of life in prison.

State Murder Case Faces New Challenge

Mangione also faces second-degree murder and other charges in New York state court. His state trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 8.

His attorneys are expected to argue that New York’s double jeopardy protections block the state prosecution. Those protections can apply when a related federal case ends with a guilty plea.

However, the federal and state cases involve different criminal charges. State prosecutors have opposed any effort to dismiss their case.

A state judge previously dismissed murder-as-terrorism charges against Mangione. The judge allowed the second-degree murder charge and several related counts to remain.

The federal plea does not automatically end the state prosecution. A state court must determine whether the two cases legally cover the same criminal conduct.

Shooting Led to Nationwide Manhunt

Authorities arrested Mangione on Dec. 9, 2024, at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The arrest came five days after Thompson’s killing.

Police said Mangione carried a fake identification card and a 3D-printed pistol. Prosecutors said the weapon matched the gun used in the shooting.

Investigators also recovered a notebook that described plans targeting a health insurance executive. Judges in both cases have allowed prosecutors to use significant evidence recovered during the arrest.

Mangione’s guilty plea marks a major development in a case that drew national attention. The next decisions will determine his federal sentence and whether New York may continue its murder prosecution.

Houston Rockets Schedule Features Early Texas Showdown Against Spurs

0

The first major Houston Rockets schedule announcement places the team on a national stage during opening week. Houston will face the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Moody Center in Austin.

The game begins at 8:30 p.m. CT and will stream nationally on Prime Video. It headlines an early NBA calendar filled with rivalry games, superstar debuts and a Christmas Day Finals rematch.

Houston Rockets Schedule Opens With Austin Matchup

The neutral-site contest will feature Kevin Durant against Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. Durant played one college season at the University of Texas in 2006-07 before entering the NBA.

Houston and San Antonio remain closely connected as Southwest Division rivals. The Spurs won three of their four meetings during the 2025-26 season. Houston had controlled the previous two season series with six wins in eight games.

The matchup also offers an early test for Alperen Şengün, Amen Thompson and Houston’s young core. Fred VanVleet is expected back after missing last season, while veteran guard Marcus Smart joins the rotation.

Durant led Houston with 26 points per game last season. Meanwhile, Wembanyama averaged 19.1 points across his first 11 career games against the Rockets. That is his second-lowest scoring average against any opponent, according to the NBA’s schedule announcement.

Before the regular season, Houston will play Dallas twice in Macao. The Rockets and Mavericks meet Oct. 9 and Oct. 11 in the NBA China Games.

Notable NBA Games During Opening Week

The 2026-27 regular season begins Tuesday, Oct. 20, with three games on NBC and Peacock. Boston visits Detroit at 2 p.m. CT before Philadelphia plays the defending champion New York Knicks at 6 p.m.

Oklahoma City then visits San Antonio at 8:30 p.m. CT. The game renews a rivalry that produced 12 meetings last season. San Antonio defeated the Thunder in seven games during the Western Conference Finals.

The opening slate also gives Philadelphia a major spotlight. LeBron James and Jaylen Brown will make their 76ers debuts against New York. James begins his record-extending 24th NBA season.

Opening week continues Oct. 21 with Minnesota at Miami and Golden State at the Los Angeles Lakers. Giannis Antetokounmpo will make his Heat debut, while LaMelo Ball begins his first season with Minnesota.

On Oct. 22, Cleveland visits Philadelphia before Denver plays Oklahoma City. The second matchup features Nikola Jokić and reigning two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Prime Video’s Oct. 23 doubleheader starts with the champion Knicks visiting Boston. The Rockets-Spurs game in Austin follows.

Christmas Day Brings Five Marquee Games

The NBA scheduled five games for Christmas Day on ABC and ESPN. The slate begins with San Antonio visiting New York in a rematch of the 2026 NBA Finals.

Miami then visits Boston before Philadelphia plays the Lakers. That game will mark James’ first appearance in Los Angeles since leaving the Lakers.

Oklahoma City visits Minnesota in the fourth game. Denver and Golden State close the holiday schedule with Jokić facing Stephen Curry.

Houston was not included in the Christmas Day lineup. However, its opening-week appearance gives the Rockets a prominent early national platform.

The complete Houston Rockets schedule will provide additional details about home games, road trips and national broadcasts. Fans across Texas can already circle Oct. 23 for the season’s first major in-state matchup.

Nicholas Hoult Joins ‘Harry Potter’ Season 2 as Gilderoy Lockhart

Nicholas Hoult will play Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO’s “Harry Potter” series. The casting brings the “Superman” and “The Great” actor to Hogwarts for the adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

Hoult becomes one of the first major additions announced for the show’s second chapter. The new season will follow Harry Potter’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Nicholas Hoult Takes On Gilderoy Lockhart

Lockhart enters the story as Hogwarts’ new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. He is also a bestselling author known for publishing dramatic accounts of encounters with dangerous creatures.

However, his polished public image hides an important secret. The character’s vanity, charm and questionable competence create several comedic moments throughout Harry’s second year.

Hoult has experience balancing comedy with darker character traits. He played the impulsive Emperor Peter III in Hulu’s “The Great” and an entitled guest in “The Menu.” More recently, he portrayed Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s “Superman.”

His other credits include “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Warm Bodies,” “Nosferatu” and several “X-Men” films. That range could support Lockhart’s shift from celebrated professor to a key figure in the season’s central mystery.

Kenneth Branagh previously played Lockhart in the 2002 film adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

What Gilderoy Lockhart Brings to Season 2

Lockhart holds a significant place in the second book. He becomes fascinated with Harry’s fame and frequently places the young wizard at the center of unwanted publicity.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts faces a growing threat. Students become targets of mysterious attacks, and warnings appear about the legendary Chamber of Secrets.

Lockhart’s classes and public appearances provide humor during the increasingly serious investigation. His actions also affect Harry and Ron as they search for answers beneath the school.

HBO has not announced a premiere date for Season 2. However, the network renewed the series months before the first season’s debut. Production on the second installment is scheduled to begin in fall 2026.

Jon Brown will serve as co-showrunner alongside Francesca Gardiner. Brown worked as a writer on the first season and previously collaborated with Gardiner on HBO’s “Succession.”

HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Begins This Christmas

The first season, titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” will premiere Dec. 25 on HBO and HBO Max. It follows Harry’s introduction to the wizarding world and his first year at Hogwarts.

Dominic McLaughlin leads the cast as Harry Potter. Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger, while Alastair Stout portrays Ron Weasley.

The adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. Nick Frost plays Rubeus Hagrid, and Johnny Flynn appears as Lucius Malfoy.

The adaptation is planned as a decade-long project. Each season is expected to explore one of the seven original novels with more screen time than the films provided.

Hoult’s arrival gives Season 2 an established performer for one of the book’s most memorable characters. Additional casting announcements are expected as the series prepares to return to production.

Houston Texans Training Camp: Key Moments From the 2026 Summer

0

The Houston Texans training camp has delivered encouraging returns, emerging rookies and intense position battles. Houston began camp July 29 at the Houston Methodist Training Center ahead of its milestone 25th season.

Through Aug. 10, several developments have stood out. However, preseason games will provide a clearer measure of the team’s progress.

Tank Dell Takes Major Step in His Return

Wide receiver Tank Dell has produced the most significant moment of camp. Dell practiced in pads Aug. 5 for the first time since suffering a severe knee injury in December 2024.

Dell missed the entire 2025 season while recovering. The Texans did not place him on the physically unable to perform list when camp opened.

Still, Houston has taken a careful approach. Dell sat out team drills during the opening practice as part of a planned workload.

General manager Nick Caserio said Dell still needed “ramp-up work” before receiving a full practice schedule. Dell’s return to padded work marked important progress, even with the team limiting his activity.

A healthy Dell could add speed and separation to Houston’s receiving group. Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson give quarterback C.J. Stroud several other options.

Keylan Rutledge Moves Into the Center Competition

First-round pick Keylan Rutledge has become one of the biggest stories at Houston Texans training camp. The former Georgia Tech guard has worked at center while competing with Jake Andrews.

Houston selected Rutledge with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The team hopes his physical style can strengthen a line that struggled during the 2025 season.

Rutledge appeared as the starting center on the team’s first unofficial depth chart. Although that listing remains subject to change, it showed how quickly the rookie has entered the competition.

The offensive line also includes veteran additions Wyatt Teller and Braden Smith. Houston retained Ed Ingram and has continued evaluating its options at right tackle.

Protecting Stroud remains one of the team’s main priorities. A stronger line could also support a running game led by David Montgomery and Woody Marks.

Young Players Push for Larger Roles

Sixth-round receiver Lewis Bond has generated attention with his consistency during camp. Bond entered the summer competing for a reserve role in a crowded receiving room.

Rookie tight end Marlin Klein has also displayed his athletic ability during practices. The second-round pick joins a group featuring Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, Brevin Jordan and Foster Moreau.

On defense, undrafted cornerback Collin Wright has pushed for a roster spot. His competition adds depth behind a secondary led by Derek Stingley Jr., Kamari Lassiter, Jalen Pitre and Calen Bullock.

The young players will receive their most important opportunities during preseason action. Their performances on special teams could also influence final roster decisions.

Texans Defense Sets a High Standard

Houston’s defense continues to challenge the offense throughout camp. Lassiter intercepted Stroud during limited team work on the opening day, providing an early highlight for the secondary.

The unit returns established playmakers, including Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter and Azeez Al-Shaair. Houston also added veteran safety Reed Blankenship and rookie defensive tackle Kayden McDonald during the offseason.

That depth gives coach DeMeco Ryans several options. It also creates difficult roster decisions across the defensive line and secondary.

Preseason Will Bring the Next Test

The Texans open their preseason against the Los Angeles Chargers at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Reliant Stadium. They will then hold a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 18.

Houston hosts Las Vegas on Aug. 20 before closing the preseason at Carolina on Aug. 28.

For Texans fans, the first preseason game will offer a closer look at the offensive line, rookies and returning players. Those performances will begin turning encouraging camp moments into meaningful roster decisions.

Marvel’s New X-Men Cast Takes Shape Ahead of Possible D23 2026 Reveal

Marvel Studios is beginning to assemble its new X-Men cast, with Sadie Sink confirmed as Jean Grey. Samara Weaving and Kit Connor have also been linked to major mutant roles.

Additional casting rumors continue to circulate before D23 2026. However, Marvel has not announced a complete cast or confirmed that an X-Men presentation will happen at the event.

Sadie Sink Joins the New X-Men Cast

Sink made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Her appearance ended months of speculation surrounding her previously undisclosed role.

The “Stranger Things” actor has also discussed continuing Jean’s story in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film. She is currently the clearest confirmed member of the new team.

Jean Grey ranks among Marvel’s most powerful mutants. Previous live-action versions were played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.

The new version is expected to become a central part of Marvel’s post-“Avengers: Secret Wars” plans. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously confirmed that a newly cast X-Men team would follow that film.

Kit Connor Reportedly Eyed for Cyclops

Kit Connor is reportedly in discussions to play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. The “Heartstopper” actor would join Sink as one of the franchise’s most important characters.

Cyclops traditionally serves as the X-Men’s field leader. His relationship with Jean Grey also represents one of the team’s longest-running storylines.

Reports indicate that Marvel considered several candidates before focusing on Connor. However, the studio has not formally announced his casting.

Samara Weaving Reportedly Set to Play Emma Frost

Samara Weaving is reportedly attached to play Emma Frost in Marvel’s upcoming “X-Men” film. Her casting has received widespread attention, but Marvel has not made a formal announcement.

The “Ready or Not” actor would join Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey as another powerful telepath. Their characters have frequently competed for influence and leadership in the comics.

Emma Frost has appeared as an antagonist, teacher and X-Men member across different storylines. January Jones previously played the character in “X-Men: First Class.”

Weaving could bring a more experienced presence to the younger ensemble. However, her involvement remains unconfirmed until Marvel Studios publicly presents the new cast.

Other X-Men Casting Rumors

Cailee Spaeny has been repeatedly linked to Rogue, although reports conflict over whether negotiations occurred. Charles Melton has also appeared in rumors surrounding the role of Beast.

Bill Skarsgård is among the actors connected to Professor Charles Xavier. Other names mentioned for Professor X include Ethan Hawke and Jonathan Groff.

Meanwhile, Adam Driver has been linked to both Magneto and Mister Sinister. The conflicting reports make his potential role especially uncertain.

No reliable casting announcement has identified the new Storm. Still, the character is widely expected to become a major part of the film’s ensemble.

The rumored lineup includes Jean Grey, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Professor X and Magneto. Wolverine has remained largely absent from current casting reports.

None of those rumors beyond Sink’s Jean Grey should be considered final until Marvel makes an announcement.

Could the X-Men Cast Appear at D23 2026?

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will take place Aug. 14–16 in Anaheim, California. The Disney Entertainment Showcase begins Friday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Honda Center.

The showcase will include upcoming movies, television projects and other Disney releases. Marvel is expected to participate, although the announced schedule does not identify a dedicated X-Men segment.

The appearance of Storm on D23 promotional artwork has increased fan expectations. Still, promotional art does not confirm a movie announcement or cast presentation.

Reports have suggested that Marvel hoped to reveal several X-Men actors at D23. More recent rumors claim negotiations may prevent the studio from completing the full lineup before the event.

Marvel could announce the film, introduce part of the cast or provide only a general production update. A complete absence from the showcase also remains possible.

Marvel Prepares for a New Mutant Era

Jake Schreier is set to direct the upcoming film after previously working with Marvel on “Thunderbolts*.” The movie is expected after “Avengers: Secret Wars,” but Marvel has not announced an official release date.

Original Fox-era X-Men actors will first return in “Avengers: Doomsday.” Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer are part of that separate ensemble.

Their appearances will help close the previous era before Marvel introduces its younger team. D23 2026 could provide the first official look at how that transition will happen.
