Apple will host a product launch in Los Angeles on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. The Apple October 28 event, titled “Pro and Tell,” could introduce the company’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro.
The presentation begins at noon Central time for viewers in Texas. However, Apple has not confirmed whether it will stream a traditional keynote for the public.
Apple October 28 Event Focuses on Professional Devices
Apple announced the event Monday through media invitations and a social media post from marketing chief Greg Joswiak. The invitation reportedly describes an “Apple Experience” centered on professional products.
Selected journalists and content creators will attend the Los Angeles gathering. Reports suggest the format may combine online announcements with hands-on product demonstrations.
The “Pro and Tell” name points toward Apple’s professional Mac lineup. Still, the company has not identified which devices it plans to reveal.
Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Lead the Launch
The biggest expected announcement is a redesigned MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen. It would mark a major change for Apple, which has traditionally kept touch controls on the iPhone and iPad.
Bloomberg reported that the anticipated laptop could be Apple’s first MacBook with direct touch input. Current MacBook owners rely on a keyboard, trackpad or external pointing device.
The new display could offer improved contrast, deeper black levels and more responsive visuals. Reports also point to 14-inch and 16-inch models, although Apple has not confirmed their sizes or specifications.
Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes said he expects Apple to introduce new Macs this fall, including a touchscreen notebook. The prediction adds to months of reports about Apple developing an OLED MacBook.
Details about the processor remain less certain. Some reports indicate that premium touchscreen models may retain Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Others expect separate Macs powered by a new M6 processor.
New iMac and iPad Mini Also Expected
Apple may also reveal an updated iMac during the event. The desktop computer has not received a major update since October 2024, according to Reuters.
A new entry-level MacBook Pro with an M6 processor is another possibility. That model could remain separate from the more expensive touchscreen versions.
An updated iPad mini may also appear. Reports suggest it could receive an OLED display, a landscape-positioned front camera and redesigned speakers.
However, pricing and release dates remain unconfirmed. Consumers considering a new Mac or iPad may want to compare Apple’s official specifications after the presentation.
What Touch Controls Could Mean for Mac Users
A touchscreen would give MacBook owners another way to navigate apps, edit photos and interact with creative tools. It could also narrow the functional gap between MacBooks and iPads.
Apple would still need to explain how macOS supports touch without weakening its keyboard-and-trackpad experience. Compatibility with Apple Pencil also remains an open question.
The Oct. 28 presentation should clarify whether Apple is ready to redefine the MacBook Pro. Texas consumers can follow Apple’s official channels for confirmed products, prices and availability.
