Comic-Con 2026 announcements gave fans a packed weekend of superhero news, movie reveals and streaming previews in San Diego. The convention ran July 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center, with major studios using the weekend to spotlight their biggest upcoming projects.

Marvel Studios led the biggest headlines. However, DC, Apple TV, Prime Video, HBO and other studios also brought major updates for fans across movies, comics and television.

Comic-Con 2026 Announcements Led by Marvel

Marvel Studios made one of the weekend’s biggest reveals by announcing Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider. The new film is planned for 2028, with Shawn Levy set to direct.

The studio also confirmed Black Panther 3 for Dec. 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler is returning to direct, while David Jonsson was announced as the next Black Panther, according to Marvel coverage from The Verge.

In addition, Marvel previewed Avengers: Doomsday, one of its most anticipated upcoming films. The presentation included new footage and appearances tied to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ryan Reynolds also surprised fans in Deadpool costume during Marvel’s Hall H presentation. As a result, speculation grew around Deadpool’s future role in Marvel’s next major crossover.

X-Men Return Builds MCU Excitement

The original X-Men cast also became a major Comic-Con talking point. James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer reunited ahead of their expected return in Avengers: Doomsday.

That reunion added more weight to Marvel’s multiverse plans. It also signaled a bigger role for the X-Men inside the MCU.

For many fans, the moment connected early 2000s superhero nostalgia with Marvel’s current film slate. Therefore, it became one of the weekend’s most talked-about events.

Marvel also used Comic-Con to keep attention on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Reports from the weekend said footage included Spider-Man, Hulk and Punisher in action.

DC and Streaming Series Make Noise

DC also had a presence at Comic-Con, including attention around Lanterns, the upcoming HBO series tied to the DC Universe. The show is expected to bring a detective-style story into the Green Lantern world.

Meanwhile, Apple TV made its Hall H debut with several projects. The streamer highlighted Neuromancer, a cyberpunk series based on William Gibson’s influential novel.

Apple TV also promoted Matchbox, an action film starring John Cena, and season two of Dark Matter, according to Vulture’s Comic-Con roundup. These reveals showed how streaming platforms are using Comic-Con to reach genre fans directly.

Prime Video also released new looks at Blade Runner 2099, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and a new adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie.

Sequels, Classics and Fan Favorites Return

Comic-Con 2026 also delivered big moments outside superhero franchises. Mel Brooks appeared by video to promote Spaceballs: The New One, a sequel to the 1987 comedy classic.

The film is expected to bring back several original cast members while adding new stars. Because of that, the announcement drew strong interest from longtime comedy fans.

Guillermo del Toro marked the 20th anniversary of Pan’s Labyrinth during the weekend. He also teased a 3D and 4K rerelease of the acclaimed film.

In animation, Brad Bird previewed footage from Ray Gunn, his upcoming Netflix film. He also teased Incredibles 3, giving Pixar fans another reason to watch future updates closely.

Comic-Con Weekend Shows Fan Power

The biggest Comic-Con 2026 announcements showed how important the event remains for entertainment studios. Marvel brought the loudest reveals, but the weekend also highlighted major projects across television, streaming, animation and classic franchises.

For fans, the weekend offered a look at the next several years of pop culture. From Ghost Rider and Black Panther to Lanterns and Neuromancer, Comic-Con proved again that San Diego remains one of the biggest stages for entertainment news.
